MasterOmok - CTF-(mo)-* maps

Post by MasterOmok »

Hello everyone,

Not sure if anyone will recognize my name, or my maps, but here we go. I used to play UT99 back in the day, and I was an active mapper and member of the UnrealMachine Community. I made my first map in 2002 (possibly earlier, judging off files dates below). I was young at the time, but still produced some fun maps. I recently stumbled upon an old harddrive that had most of my maps on it! I thought I had lost them, but finding them made me want to come back to the game. It is now over eleven years since my first map, but I have much more knowledge. I want to get back into mapping, and maybe remaking some of my old maps.

Image

Probably as good of a place as any to ask some questions..

Does anyone remember my maps, and/or still play them?
If they are active on any servers do you have the IPs?
If you remember any of them, would you like to see certain ones remastered?

Anyways, I am back in the game and will try to be active!

Welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay!
Sorry, haven't played any of those (I'm still pretty new to UT in general) and Google can't even find most of them :(. any chance of a rerelease in a mappack or something? Got any pics of some of those? I really want to try them out. :tu:
Cheers!

I am currently going through and making sure I have all the dependencies. It looks like I might be missing some files for some of the maps sadly. I will be packaging them up, and posting them on my website shortly for the ones I have all the files. I will be sure to post some links once I have them uploaded!

Welcome aboard
...sadly do I know not a single map of your list. But This doesn't count, I wasn't that active in the UT community till 2006-2008.

The most popular map in your list we have hosted on our CTF server is CTF-(mo)-BioBeer-Wars. We've used that map in particular because we host a mutator called RocketX which was derived from SLV(aka StrangeLove) and made for some interesting dog fights in the main open area.

Hey there! Thanks for the contribution, and congrats on the "discovery." Always glad to see UT stuff recovered and resurface in volumes like these. How many of these maps would you say have bot-support?

I for one have never heard of those maps... but would welcome to try them, or see screenshots of them.

Glad to have another old-timer back to the ranks.
Things have progressed a lot (even in the last few years), and there are many new things to make editing easier.
There are some handy tools to list/find dependencies such as "mappers dream", and even plenty of bolt-ons for UEd.
Check the downloads and mapping sections

There are new modern renderers so the old limitations are out the window. You can be as impressive as you like with textures and 16bit audio.

I see you are looking for more UT related sites, so click on the link in my sig and you can see the various news-feeds from sites that use them.

I may be able to add your old site to the list if I have a start URL....

Unreal Machine hosted a SLV server which that map was designed for. I am glad to see it is still in play. What is/are the IP for the server(s)? I would love to hop on and enjoy it

CTF-(mo)-Room-That-Spams has good bot support
CTF-(mo)-Footballz has good bot support
CTF-(mo)-White-Fight has good bot support
CTF-(mo)-Gushers-SF has decent bots
CTF-(mo)-BioBeer-Wars has so-so bots (they get stuck on sniper tower)

Glad to see that mapping has expanded a lot since I first started. I was only 13 years old when I made my Gushers map back in 2002. There were a lot of limitations of my knowledge, resources, and the time in general. Now that I have much more computer knowledge and things have expanded, I look forward to diving back into mapping and remastering some maps, and making new ones as well.
