tracking a server

Do you know, how i can track a server to get information like currently playing map or players online?

I want to create a server tracker like http://www.gametracker.com 's (but not so ugly )

Do you have any idea how to get these server information?

Its actually pretty cool you can go into each players profile even the maps and you can see all the recent games and stuff....
