Hi all

Really embarrassed to say I'm struggling to add a server banner to my signature :oops:

Went to the gametracker website, copied the forum code and added it to my signature.
Error shows up on ger saying "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image"

Code looks fine and I see the dimensions in it.

here is the url for the server banner info:

http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ ... 75:7777/b/

What am I doing wrong?

Piley

I dont understand your question.

There is already the url and the img added on it so you dont have to add anything anymore.
You maby need the forum code tab.

Hi

I'm struggling!
Let me explain again. I want to add this banner to my signature.

I copied and pasted the code to my signature in control panel. Cant determine size error.
Added code tags as suggested.

See my signature now?!

I'm obviously doing something stupid :(

Copied and pasted the code to this post and it works.

How to add to my signature?

I got the same error ...that's strange.
Maybe @Shade can explain what's wrong.

You must edit b_560_95_1.png and resize again, and upload somewhere else.
With paint, but normaly you can resize that picture on signature location also, i know what you mean.
Well i did try also but i did only see text ,so must be a bug within the software from this forum.
When you add the picture only you dont have a button so there must be a technical solution for this problem.
Tiny and small does not work properly. :help:
When you resize that pictures only it will be that location of the picture will come somewhere else so the [img] setion will be another path where that picture will be resized and upload somewhere else.hope this helps.
So i think you must edit this section:[/img]new path of edited png or jpg file[/img] and let everything else so as it was before.
Barby knows or Shade see post below.
Edit: i already did make this picture smaller like 25%, maby you can use it pierely.

That's useless because that is a dynamically created image that is updated all n (?) minutes. If that image works in normal forum text but not in signature area it is definitely a problem of forum software.
Maybe @Shade can explain what's wrong.
I noticed that the @ operator does not work as expected - @papercoffee: did you get a "You have been mentioned"-message from here?

<EDIT>
While testing that image display in signature I got the forum error message Your images may only be up to 200 pixels high. Probably the dimension test is not done if an image is used in normal thread area what would explain the different behaviour.
</EDIT>
<EDIT2>
Some more testing shows that the image itself is not the problem: if I put it on one of my server, it is loaded without problems. Nor the wired looking URL for the image seems to be the problem: if I try a "normal" image from GameTracker (http://www.gametracker.com/images/game_icons64/ut.png for example), the same error message appears. I guess that the GameTracker web server sends some additional info (eg "DontCache") that prevents forum software to load the image.
</EDIT2>

I see now that this feature is also broken. It worked for a few weeks after Shade implemented it.
Now is only the quote with ="papercoffee" working and tells me that I got mentioned.
Another strange thing.

This theory could explain it ...But wouldn't this be counterproductive for GameTracker?

Obviously it works for "normal" browsers like Firefox, IE or even wget. Someone has to check what happens if the forum's PHP accesses the image URL - either the image is not loaded at all (because GT web server denies access because for example of user agent) or it is loaded to memory but not to disk because of no-caching-info-in-header while the PHP GetImageSize() function requires a stored image... A view into the code should make this clear.

For someones interest: the reply header I receive for such an image is

Well I'm glad its not just me being stupid and that its generating some discussion.
Not a major problem but would obviously like to display it in my signature.

Some people here like Higor or Chamberly have a smaller gametracker banner in their signature, so perhaps it fulfills your needs if using the smaller version too.

I tried to update my signature with the bigger and the smaller one and I also got an error message.

My existing signature still has the server image though (I know the server is offline)
This is how it was supposed to work:

Definitely, a forum error as nothing is showing up correctly in preview mode. @Shade
Even I still have mine, pressing the preview button to give the same error.

This is what I have for my 2 banners:

Code: Select all

The only difference here is that I have colors.
Maybe something went wrong when the guy broke into the system and screwed up some things, so hopefully, Shade knows where to look.

Shade knows where to look.
Has anyone told him via PM or such? (The @ operator is not working at the moment.)
