Server not starting

Post by Pileyrei »

Another day, another problem :(

Logged onto my control panel and noticed my server was down. Couldn't see any real reason in the log so restarted.
It will not boot up.

Last section of the log says this:

Game engine initialized
UDP recvfrom error: 11 from 0.0.0.0:0
Resolved utmaster.epicgames.com (199.255.40.174)
UdpServerUplink: Master Server is utmaster.epicgames.com:27900
UdpServerUplink: Port 7781 successfully bound.
Resolved master.noccer.de (176.9.76.199)
UdpServerUplink: Master Server is master.noccer.de:27900
UdpServerUplink: Port 7781 successfully bound.
Resolved master.333networks.com (84.83.176.234)
UdpServerUplink: Master Server is master.333networks.com:27900
UdpServerUplink: Port 7781 successfully bound.

Then nothing else.

Any ideas why it wont start up? I don't like the look of that udp error.

Sorry Pileyrei, I'm not having any epiphanies.

If it was me, I'd probably start by commenting out all of the ServerPackages and ServerActors entries under [Engine.Engine] that aren't required for basic server operation (by putting a semi-colon at the start of those lines - and before anyone points this out, I realise a semi-colon isn't actually part of any protocol that indicates that it should be treated as an "ignore this line" marker).

So, comment out any Nexgen stuff, any ACE stuff, any IPToCountry stuff and so on, and check whether you get any further in the boot process.

Do you have older log files to compare?
And if that OS is Linux: I remember not using more than 3 uplink servers there.

Seems to be a minor issue - I get this message nearly always if players leave.

I wiped my server and its back up with some but not all the configuration I want.
I'm going to install ACE again and if it goes feet up again I'll wipe again and go back to ACE 8h. Will let you know how it all goes.

EDIT:

After a full wipe of my server I installed ACE10E from scratch. Same problem. Server comes up fine but when you join UT crashes. Have removed ACE for now. FileZilla is set to upload in binary.

I don't have SSH access but am able to upload the zip file to the system folder and then ask gameservers support to unzip it. I will try that next and if that still fails then my verdict will have to be do NOT install ACE10 on a gameservers.com server.
