How can I exlude or modify one bot? [SOLVED]

Post by Aldebaran »

In general I am satiesfied with my bot configuration. They are not to strong and not to weak. But only one bot sticks out, he is very very strong and kills people before they have a chance to see him. So I want to disable him (or replace with weaker bot).
I tried to remove the bot lines of this bot in User.ini but the bot still appears ingame.
Any ideas how I could solve this, perhaps without any additional mutator?

You can configure most of the bots' attributes (skill, accuracy, combat style, alterness, etc, etc) from Start Practice Session > Bots > Configure but perhaps this doesn't work for online?

Aaaahhh! I changed some bot values in the client and now I have so much more settings in the client User.ini I never seen before.

BotSkills[0]=0.000000
BotAccuracy[0]=0.000000
CombatStyle[0]=0.000000
...

I will try some custom values and hope they will take effect on a dedicated server.

EDIT:
Strike! I made him to the worst player of all, so it seems to work. Thank you for your help.

I'll bet it was Loque.

hm... Loque is not that tough. Good values which makes him less predictable, but if you know that is he beatable.
Aldebaran must have used a customised one, or am I wrong?

It is Loque. And I used standard values, nothing custom. I use the "experienced" skill level for all bots. The accuracy of him if shooting with sniper rifle or instagib is unbeatable at times at least here for me.
With BotAccuracy[24]=-0.100000 it seems I have solved the problem.

Oh, ok... Yes Loque with instagib is nearly unbeatable ...but he is also predictable.
I set up a second bot with exact the same values as Loque and if both of them end up on the same team against me, is it very tough to get even close a flag or control point. :ironic:

You don't deny Loque of his abilities, he denies yours.

It's the weirdest thing, I deliberately went tracking down what Loque's specific stats were for ut99 so I could set him up and test him against my own bots, and even though I've many with higher skills and better aim... damned Loque frequently wins out regardless.

He even kicks serious ass against the Golden Reaver that Zacman made.

It's because his stats are the most balanced one in UT. It let the AI react much better according to current situations.
I played a round LMS against bots with StuffSwapper and used the FF-MH version. It was broken and everyone got only the Canopener and the Pan. Anyway I played it and it was pretty intense ...Loque was also in the game and both of us wiped the floor with the other bots. But we got reduced to 2 points at the end. All the other bots where out and it turned into a duel. It was the most intense 20-25 minutes ever. When I expected him around a corner was he suddenly behind me. When I hunted him did he try to shake me off.
It was still a damn bot I was playing but Loque was the most unpredictable bot in this match. Loque managed to surprise me.

And as I said ...I copied Loques stats to my first bot in my roster (I call him Scavenger-One). If those two end up on the same team against me. is it nearly impossible to get near a flag base or control-point.

Edit--------------------------
But I must say on a bad pathed map is even Loque just a useless bot. :wink:

How does this work in offline bot matches?

Are there some commands for that? I only know the killpawns command and the addbot(s) command ....

Not quite sure what you are referring to here but, as I noted in an earlier post, bot attributes are set by going to Start Practice Session > clicking on the Bots tab > pressing Configure button. This brings up a configuration window which enables you to configure 14 attributes/variables for each of the 32 default bots, ranging from Name and Class through Skin and Voice to Skill and propensity to Camp - these values are written to the User.ini (if you want more than 32 bots, use XBots or XBots9b).

If you mean can you alter these values in game, by a console command, then I am not sure about that but presume not.
