Connecting to Multiplayer

Post by IPWright83 »

I'm wondering if anyone can help me as I'm really struggling to get connected to Multiplayer servers. I can view/ping servers absolutely fine and I can attempt a connection at which point all the pre-requisites (maps, mods, skins) also download without issue. However once the downloads have completed, I'm always dumped back to the splash screen as it fails to connect.

I'm running Windows 10 x64 Professional, and I've got an original version of Unreal Tournament installed, patched up to v436. I've read a bit about port forwarding (but believe that's only required to host multiplayer) and I've allowed the main executable both inbound and outbound connections through the Windows Firewall.

In the logs all I get is:

DevNet: Receiving package 'BayernPack'
Log: Pending connect to '85.14.221.179:6666/DM-!!![UT]A-Space-station?Name=Imrik?Class=BotPack.TMale2?team=0?skin=SoldierSkins.hkil?Face=SoldierSkins.Matrix?Voice=BotPack.VoiceMaleTwo' failed; Connection failed
NetComeGo: Close TcpipConnection1 06/01/18 13:21:09
Exit: WinSock shut down

Does anyone have any ideas on what else I might be able to try? As the logs aren't telling me much I'm not quite sure what else I can tweak.

This server rejects me also without a reason. Have you tried other servers also?

Have you tried to reconnect to it? Might it had a map switch while downloading?

I should have mentioned that in the original post, yes I've tried a range of servers and they all fail in the same way.

I've tried connecting to various servers all with the same issue. The chances of them all switching would be a million to one.

Sounds strange but I guess it could be an IP_Driver corrupt or something maybe.

Maybe redownload/re-install the UT99 file? You can do that here...

Pretty reliable. I've also tried it myself and it works.^

Thanks, I'll (attempt) to give that a try as my copy isn't actually the GOTY edition. Unfortunately at the moment the registration is all screwy - it rejected my login despite chrome/lastpass storing the password... no idea how that can happen. So I've got to wait to try again in 15 mins :wtf:

Just to let you know, managed to eventually register and download (don't fill that registration form in quicker than 40 seconds else it won't let you register!) and the GOTY edition just works straight out the box and connects. Thanks for the help :)
