How to join an IP server? And what servers?

Noob here, how do i join an IP server like 71.21.x.x.x. and where can i find a source of Servers to join,, thanks

Hi blade11,

In short: open the console with ~ (tilde) and type "connect 71.21.x.x.x". After you press [Enter], it will connect you to the server of which you just entered the IP. Another way to do this is by clicking "Multiplayer" and then "Open Location". A new box appears in which you can enter the IP address of a server. You should be able to find more servers in "Internet Games" of the Multiplayer Menu (see picture below) by clicking one of the available tabs like "UT Servers".



A few more details (and 9001 edits later):
About a year ago, GameSpy decided to stop their services (plenty of info about that here and here). In the meanwhile, I wrote my own version of the UT masterserver (wiki) which also supports other games like Postal2, Unreal and DeusEx. In addition, we made a few pretty sites for it (click, click and click).

You can tell to UT about your desire for a specific custom game-type. Look what I have:

And if a friend has sent you his server's IP then see menu with section

And then write address into white field

Usually if that server:
- doesn't have general password;
- doesn't have a game password;
- is On-Line;
- doesn't have different files to encounter mismatch troubles;
- it's not retarded to crash you;
then you will be able to join normally - I repeat IF is a Normal UT Server.
