Total Conversion Mod: Unreal Tournament 2004 Extreme

Post by Blackcheetah »

UT2004 Extreme is a total conversion that will bring the whole ut2004 gameplay into the UT engine.

At this moment, these maps exist for these gametypes.

Deathmatch,TeamDeathmatch,Tallyho! Invasion:

2k4-Rankin
2k4-1on1-Spirit
2k4-1on1-Roughinery
2k4-1on1-Trite
2k4-GrendalKeep
2k4-Osiris
2k4-Ironic
2k4-Gael

ArenaMaster, TeamArenaMaster:
TAM-1on1-Alzonia
TAM-Rankin
TAM-Goose2k4
TAM-Under_Le
TAM-GrendalKeep

Vehicle CTF:
VCTF-Torlan

Onslaught 1.25:
ONS-Torlan

Beta Domination
DOM-Rankin

Double Domination
DDOM-Gael

Capture the flag:
CTF2-Face
CTF2-GrendalKeep

There are 41 converted UT2004 Models (default skins) and the Famous DEMOGUY has been invited.

My plans with this mod is to bring a whole new experience to UT. Like Killing Grounds, Tactical Ops, Godz and Defense alliance, the mod change gameplay totally, change all weapons, and have new maps.

One aim for the mod is to make it look like UT2004's Engine is some particle way, though it is Unreal Engine 1, Iwill make fake effects to make it seem like some enhancements have been made to the engine, such as contrast and Gamma.

The mod will rely on Unreal Tournament SDK or more ideas such as staticmeshes or to use its rendering and if the vehicle classes are superior to mine the vehicle classes, and use its ragdoll physics.

It will be the biggest ever mod for Unreal Tournament, and plan to not release it unless there is large audience who will inhabit the mod and allow it to flourish.

I am definately using it as a replacement for UT for those who are into new things but have no money to buy them.

Another plan is for my own personal satisfaction and learning more of gaming industry, by creating something great and trying to improve and create a community out of something, and increase in knowledge.

I admit, (positive) user comments can motivate the author(s) (a lot) while no answers at all can you piss of [so I also dont share the argument .. you are doing this mostly for yourself, dont give a shit about others opinion], but if you are serious about THAT, I can promise you, there will be users who will laugh their ass off and will not give a shit. You can not force interest, thats the sad truth. For my part I can already say, that I partly lost interest already since you are trying to enforce this all like "no enthusiasm, no download", this will not work. The golden times of UT are over, I still map for it and even if a certain engine patch should come (I guess I kinda enjoy to hint that^^), I can not expect many downloads. You will most likely also not getting 10000 "omfg leet" comments. Doing a great map (as example) does not necessarily mean you will get many downloads. Often seen that by myself that specially the simple and ugly maps get over 1000 downloads while the quality ones are far behind those dl numbers. The bad thing about that, that THOSE user think they have done something really great. The user behaviour is sometimes not understandable. Anyway: I would suggest you to think twice about that.

It baffles me that people spend so much time to perfectly import game modes into previous game iterations. This seems to be well-done, but really....why? You can grab 2k4 for a song now and then have access to all the thousands of mods for it and it's the real deal.

Why not spend all this effort on something that hasn't been done?

I think we should lock any old dead topic to avoid these nonsense bumps, starting by this one... (I know a forum, not UT related though, where they do that and it's very effective to avoid this lol  ).

LOCKED (we need a lock icon here lol).
