Enhanced mapvote (hypothetical)

Post by ShaiHulud »

With one eye on the future. Does anyone know if it's possible to recreate the Server Browser Treeview (report mode)/Listview control (or similar) in something like BDBMapVote?

I'd really like to see a multi-column map vote (particularly for BT) with headers like:

Map_name, Map_author, Map_difficulty_rating, Map_record_holder, Map_record_time, Player_rating, Previously_played, Date_added

...with sorting by any of those columns, but I've no idea whether something like that would be achievable.

Thanks

Well, I never looked at mapvote itself before, nor anything related to BT, but I can say that all that is possible (even the sorting), as long as you have a saved list with all that info, which goes a bit back to one for your first topics on map detection.

I created such a BT specific mapvote not long ago for my friends from FBT, in form of a NexgenPlugin. Realized pretty well if you ask me, but there were some bug reports + in the end they wanted a larger maplist with more coloums, which isn't doable with Nexgen.

Screens:
BTMapVote1
BTMapVote2

We can come back on this project if you are interested :)

FBT ran it for some weeks (when they were still around). In the end, the main reason they dropped it, was the fact, that there's only one maplist which is also lacking size (compared to MapVoteLA) and that it's a NexgenPlugin. Nonetheless, I'm still quite happy with it, although there could have been some small optimizations (regarding the MapRecords for example). Offering something like indexing by Author names requires a well maintained database, which none of the both side's (me and FBT) back then aimed to achieve.

The source is still sitting on my harddrives somewhere, so if anyone is interested, just gimme a quick msg :)

Someone should of ported MVLA to NEXGEN perhaps.
With all the bells and whistles of the newer versions I guess.

Wondering about these UWindows in rescent threads about window sizes and so-forth.

I get the feeling that UWindows don't work well with percentages based on players resolutions.
