btw i just discovered you can bypass download restrictions using "flashget" i just downloaded fortress restricted to 500kb/s on a free non premium host at 2mb/s lol

It's a total conversion mod that accurately remakes the Macintosh classic as well as improve a lot of things.

From what I gather Unreal Fortress is pretty much a Team Fortress mod for UT.

If my history proves me right, Team Fortress originated on Quake, was briefly featured on Unreal Tournament and then Sierra paid the Mod devs to tweak it for Half-life at around the same time, so Fortress never really kicked off on UT.

TF originated on QuakeWorld, Q2 was released and TF team got picked up by Valve (and they announced no TF for Quake 2). Tumorhead and Headache make Weapons Factory for Quake 2 which was a TF like game (some class diferences, offhand grapple, generally "future like" weapons). UT and Q3A get released, WF mods are developed for both of those games, as are TF mods.

Then it just kind of dies.
