Your creating all these maps yourself ?
Takes me on average around three months to get a map up to beta testing stage!

No, slow Is one thing I never did as a mapper, now maybe as I dont have the time I use to but In the past from the moment I woke up till my eyes wouldent stay open I would map.
Over complex architecture yes, probably got me on that one.

time isnt that important for mapping though... some people will do long, and some will do slow... I got a huge MH map and i work on it already for a long time.

It usually takes longer than that, I've been making my FoT5 map for 4 months already and still I don't have it finished. 1 month is simply not enough to make a good map.

Exactly, everyones different, w'ere not all making the same map, same style etc so how Lauren can say It should only take a month Is just arrogant.
In fact on one map I took just short of six months, It was a huge CTF map, I scrapped ALOT of Ideas, meshes, room/corridors etc but In the end It was one of my best.

I know w'ere going off topic here but this has annoyed me a little and the maps I want to build like below, can take alot longer than a month and a half.

nope isnt the same for me :P long means in my ears that you can work fast, but it will take long (like big projects) But you also can work slow at something small ;) but i ment something else back :P some people will work slow and some fast, but quality that counts!

@Rob_Master Builder: Now I am little bit confused.. is that now your map or not? :ironic2:

@One-Month Map: Well only I can say it depends on different aspects:
How much time you want to invest totally?
Do you have to make your textures by yourself?
Have you all textures found which you want to use?
How much time do you have for mapping?
Do you mapp every day? I dont think that this do a lot of people...
How complex is the geometry? Are there any difficulties which delay mapping?
How fast can you mapp?
Do you have to test your map very often because of different reasons like testing of the layout and the proportions?
Do you plan your map in detail or do you just map from scratch up?
Have you done maps like this one ever done, so.. you know what you have to do?
Do you try to build a very complex terrain?
Is that a really small 1on1 map or a large 16 Player map?
Can you copy and paste parts of the geometry?
For what gametype is the map?
and so on....
For my first DM Map I needed more or less a month but I guess I coud have done it in two weeks.. I mapped a lot of, it was in the holydays. I spent nearly every day with a lof of hours in the map. But to be honest I was very slow. Today i would say, I need at least 2 months for a decent map.
About to be non-active
My very last UT map project: CTF-FacePalm (tropical CTF-Face remake)
Why do I leave? click here
What I want to do next: Joining an UDK team (uncertain however) and improve 3D modelling and texture editing skills
Thanks to those who visibly supported me until/at the end!
My reactivated account on indiedb.com.

You've brought up alot of good points there as one thing I do Is spend alot of time planning out how the map will look, layout, theme then you may need to create your own textures, sound FX, music, meshes all depends on the scale, how much time you have and your skills of course.

The screen shot Is from an old level called DM-Epitaph, not the one I'm working on right now, It does has a similar look as I'm using the same textures, meshes etc just to save time and get back Into mapping again.
