Mysterious features in UnrealEd

Post by PrinceOfFunky »

In this week I found out three features in UnrealEd which I never noticed before.
The first one is the CsgOper as CSG_Active, when you're working with the red skeleton of a brush, it has, as default, the CsgOper set to CSG_Active, which, as default, is colored white. If you copy paste the red skeleton, you'll get this Active brush, you can easily put it in the middle of some placed brushes and rebuild all to see that some surfaces of the other placed brushes now act like sheets with no collision, it doesn't give any render problem.
Second one is the camera rotation, selecting a camera you'll be able to rotate it, useful if you are working on an upsidedown map or whatever degree.
Third, is the T3D Print, a feature that I found once only, I can't manage to make this option appear again, but the last time it did, I was trying to import a BMP(256x256 etc) into a custom package I made, when I clicked on import I wanted see the preview of the picture before to import it so I clicked with left mouse click and /o\ there was an option called T3D Print, which I clicked of course but nothing happened. If I try to follow these steps again, the option doesn't come up.

The red skeleton ?
Do you mean the Builder-Brush ?
If so, then of course it is active if you copy it, it is the builder-brush.

The builder brush is colored red, the copied brush is colored white and is placed when you copy it, it acts as a CSG_Subtractive brush but subtracting ONLY the empty space and not the other brushes.

Secret places, portals, and whatever else need sheets, just without the need to use sheets :D

It depends on the order the brushes are applied. Just put it to first and you have an opening.

To cut some hairs: a new map is not "empty" but full of void. 8)

You can change any brush (not mover) at any time to that "white brush" by modifying Brush's Properties>Brush>CSGOper.

Last year I've also found a mysterious feature, the secret "xxx1"-message:
xxx1-message
xxx1.png
How to reproduce
1) right click on a free place in the bar with the view buttons
2) choose Mode|Zone/Portals
3) if the "xxx 1" message is not visible, hit ALT or ALT+Tab to get the message window to the front

"XXX" is usually used like "FIXME" or "TODO" terms.

EDIT: Seems like that CSG_Active breaks portals sometimes, I guess this brush is intended to exists in the editor only .o.
EDIT 2: Mean trap D:

Trying to use a non-sheet surface as a portal.

That's how I made the vacuum and cloud zone in my TheVoid map. make a cube and click the special brush function.
That white brush seems to have no real purpose and can be something unfinished.
