T3D Project

Post by PrinceOfFunky »

I was thinking that it would be cool to have t3d files into a shared database(modular t3d's would be cool too).
Those files only contain text, even pastebin would be a great db to store these kind of files. So, what about when we want to share our t3d's, we post them on pastebin and share the links on here?
Maybe instead of making new posts we could just edit them to put new links.
Anyway, I usually use Sketchup to create t3d's files, I use the version 8, since there's a plugin which lets you export models into t3d format, the plugin is in ruby but I don't know ruby for now, so I didn't try to port the plugin to the newer version o Sketchup.
For the doubtful people about Sketchup exporting t3d's, this is an example:
church1.PNG
church2.PNG
The plugin has a few bugs, sometimes collisions are not perfect, but if the model and the exporting are done in the right way, there shouldn't be problems. (For example, you have to export selecting UT3 cause selecting UT99 causes a bug). Since this is not a tutorial on the t3d import>export plugin, I will end the post now lol, if you need a tut I can make it :D

Yeah looks very good, otherways you can use autocad also it supprts t3d file format also.
There are some tools to convert and make them ready for playing in ut99 also, but lost the names of the programs during these years.
Maby you can export the files and import it into the unrealed. So you can configure this map.
maby you can load this map into the unrealed from ut4 ,maby the file format support is bether.
Btw it looks very good. :gj:
You must have extension 3ds so you can compile and convert with 3dstounr program and then load into you unrealed.
wich you can find here so url under this text.

Ah yes a t3d database. That would be a good idea. If only someone had thought of it already.

By curiosity I hit some links... just to see them. They don't exist... or at least this is 404...

I have a small request, before posting some links a small check around would be appreciated.

Edit:
Also I was doing a check at that ...Epicgames.Com... link. By reading a few posts, I could see that some people are banned there, like someone is on a banning spree there... or is on a Rampage :confused2: .

There is only one program who is fuly supported and t3d file format can handle its 3dstudio max, only if you can buy it it will cost you on huge amount of money, its from autodesk.
Dont look at the prices :loool:

A bit of light for you.
There is an application (not perfect) UED Dungeon Maker which is exporting some t3d file. This file can be imported into UED and with this import you can get some hallways. Yeah, read well, a compatible T3D file can be imported into UED so it depends on what you mean with that T3D restriction. Else READ FIRST POST if you are confused about what T3D is about here.

I was stupid because I did not download those prefabs earlier. Now it looks like they are gone...

I have also a Blender plugin that exports .T3D files. If only I remembered where it was...
"Everyone is an idea man. Everybody thinks they have a revolutionary new game concept that no one else has ever thought of. Having cool ideas will rarely get you anywhere in the games industry. You have to be able to implement your ideas or provide some useful skill. Never join a project whose idea man or leader has no obvious development skills. Never join a project that only has a web designer. You have your own ideas. Focus on them carefully and in small chunks and you will be able to develop cool projects."

Do you mean those at your 404 HTTP error web page? Seems that page has moved to this location. But download does not work there yet, better use ut-files.com for it.

I forgot to mention the plugin I use with Sketchup doesn't just export into t3d format, but it even imports, so you can model your fav map lol:
facetowers.PNG
EDIT: Difficult to see what I've done to the second tower, but it has been "sculpted" a bit XD
