Semisolids for relaxing...

Post by sektor2111 »

Given lasts posts tutorial related and some info which I was collecting about semi-solids and their "threatening" I have set a small CTF open area Level using... 10 Brushes. It says:
- don't make a semi-solid too big - keep it in a decent size;
- made sure to not allow player to touch 2 semi-solids in the same time ( :what: ??? );
- etc.
Me saying:
- do what you want but don't screw pivot and alignment at changing grid;
- do not put a semi-solid through other brush - if you did, check map well before releasing something bugged, if went bugged;
- if Goblin is getting mad with BSP - quit building BSP in this case, it doesn't help;
- that's all.

If you want to play around I'll share this thing (I could do some pathing stunt around some window but I'm lazy today because it's week-end). I have used some prefab brush downloaded from Skillz's site and... brush is provided by {R-C}Gusher.

Edit:
Here they are two edits:
1) simple stuff setup with normal paths;
2) "_TL" suffix-ed because has "royalty" pathing - Bot might be getting into Flag room through Window from Lava side as well... cough if this is nasty then use first version.

Description:
Map uses only a few brushes and some meshes "dynamic lava", it is Net ready being a little optimized due to sky-box requirements for visible stuff. Map can be played with no issues at NetSpeed 5000 ( around 4-5 kb/s / Player ). I did not see it reaching to 6 kb/s at using even 8 Bots.

Prior map has been polished a little bit... (no, I'm not a mapper anyway...)

Certain Textures are resident in those "BonusPack" type archives...
This is a summary of its aspect...
