Mapping Contest Theme Discussion
Re: Mapping Contest Theme Discussion
Nope, I say you can do whatever files, but the zip cannot exceed 15 meg.
If some of the Chaos files are included in the main pack, that should be plenty of headroom to work with.
None of this in my opinion has anything to do with fast or slow internet. But people can fill up the zip, if they can't then they must goto being smart about making it. And since I am not doing a map on this, that is my last suggestion, seems fair, and the mapper CAN limit themselves but know the cutoff point. a 15meg zip can accommodate a lot of stuff too.

Re: Mapping Contest Theme Discussion
Nice work Spectra, that is very Chaos
You can set that in the realm of chaos very nicely. A few skulls and Chaos logs and it will be perfect.
As Spectra is showing, to make a Chaos map does not require that the Chaos mod is used.
The Chaos texture packs are for the models and meshes not the environment, so you will have to import any non UT textures.
Look in the 5 ChaosUTMedia files for more objects and textures.
The Chaos tree pack is full of real world plants that look much better than the UT plants if you set the map in our world.

Somewhat, that font type and text color doesn't seem to "fit" the theme.
The rest is very nice, specially the Chaos logo in the background.

Agreed, all is perfect, although the text need to be scary / dangerous. Then you are golden.

Ok... new version.
The colour of the font is intentional to let it stick-out against the fire-orange background.
@Dr.Flay do you have the Chaos-UT font?

Re: Mapping Contest Theme Discussion
I understand your reasoning, and for it to be readable it has to be the simplest possible and must be a color that creates contrast.
Still, I think it's a very strong green, which could be made either a bit blander, or it could stay that way but it could have some rusty brown-ish scratches and stuff (nothing overall, more discreet to keep it readable, but still in a way to fit the rest of the logo and overall theme).

Hmmmmm... I have somewhere the original rust metal texture which was used by Epic for the UT main-menu.nogardilaref wrote:it could have some rusty brown-ish scratches and stuff
You gave me an idea.

Please use my host, as picture host, because your free german upload dump is giving me a headache, every 10 seconds a popup windows opens up.
To get that picture at a reasonable view, i must click the x but in order to do that I must get rid of another 2 windows. Please dont use that host ever again.

I have to ask Gecko if he can open the Contest thread. Because I'm in a hurry and will be away over the weekend.
