I am inclined to do the same, tbh.
Although the competition is though, each map is being something quite original on its own, but this one is certainly one of my favorites and I am looking forward to it.

Thank you  , must say its kinda scary the competition. Especially you :loool: but I am doing this just for the fun and for the challenge
I am looking forward to everyone´s map and see what was their take on the theme

Here are a few more screenshots
still needs decent lighting, proper room decoration (torches, ect...) and minor tweaks in geometry (doors and elevator rooms )
What is going to give me the most hard work is finishing the skybox (as it stand it is only 1/6 completed)
I hope to have a Beta available to download until sunday the 8th of October
Edit: Screeshots removed and uptdated above

Beta will be released tomorrow!

Screenshots updated above

It´s on the verge of exploding and despite some interest that i´ve seen, i don´t think i´ll score much in the contest.
BUT, i couldn´t be prouder of my work :loool:

It has a real Chaos look - very atmospheric.

Really makes ya wish there were surface dependent step sounds. (at one point thought UT had that)

It's still possible, albeit it requires a bit of coding and have decals enabled in order for it to work.

But would it work on servers? I would think it was client side. In that case, it would have to be for sure texture based.

Ace woulden't like it. It already hates my main install. (OpenAL/OpenGL)

It would work on multiplayer, but only client-side as you mentioned, since it would be indeed texture based, with decals to be able to detect the texture itself.

ACE wouldn't be a problem. While it's true it would kick everyone due to a mod like this, its package can be added to UPackages iirc, so ACE would instead validate the package itself and allow all the client functions to be called.

Dude, it's obvious you worked quite hard on this, don't sell yourself short. I've played easily a thousand maps over the years and you can hold your head high when your map is called up to be presented for judging. I'm quite impressed.

UPDATE:
OK, played your contest entry just now. First off....you suck. I wanted that redeemer! Curses :ironic2:

Your map shows potential. It needs better flow but you you paid attention to little things like holes in the roof and properly decorated areas. I like your void effect of the building bits going off into space. It's visually nice and anchors the map well. Keep at it and listen to the feedback from other good mappers. They will help you improve faster than anything.

This is a good, solid entry by someone who's work I do not know. I'll download things from you in the future for sure.
