"Trim tool" for creating borders - does it exist?

A few players have mentioned that a "trim tool" for UnrealEd exists for creating borders/trim around an existing brush.

Does this exist, or are they getting confused with something else?

I think you may be talking about this that I just saw...

I saw that thread and that's what prompted me to create this thread.

The way it was described to me, the "trim tool" would allow you to select a brush and would automatically build a "border" brush around the existing brush.

However after reading the Tarquin Extruder brush tutorial I strongly suspect whoever told me about the "trim tool" did actually mean the Tarquin Extruder brush.

Well, if you want to do very simple trimming around cubic single BSP parts and whatnot, there might be something out there, even if it's just Tarquin's stuff.

However, to do real detailed trimming around any BSP shape, what I personally do is to build each segment with a cube, and I just vertex edit it, and clip it as well if I need to.
Then I simply take all the segments into an empty space, and intersect them all together forming a single trim brush, and then I delete the segments and apply just the single brush, and it works nicely.

This way you can even be a bit more efficient on how you do it when you have many segments facing the same direction texture-wise, and just build one of each, apply and align textures perfectly, then just duplicate and put them on the right places with the right rotations, then intersect them in the same way to get a single clean trim brush.

That's such a terrible way of doing trimming.... might be faster, but the amount and types of polys it creates is true BSP hell, very dirty stuff.
But the whole brush there is built terribly to start with, and is bound to give some headaches later on as the map gets more complex.

Maybe the FrameBuilder? You can find broken links here: https://wiki.beyondunreal.com/Legacy:Cu ... ushbuilder
