UEd2.0 won't start, help?
UEd2.0 won't start, help?
Any mapper here who can maybe tell me a trick to get my unrealed 2.0 running? It starts up and then nothing happens until I get the message that it is not responding. I use windows 8.1 and heard that it will work on XP but surely there must be a way to get it running on 8.1 aswell. I tried almost everything with the .ini and it just doesn't seem to work out for me.

I use 8.1 and UE works fine-scratch that (mostly fine ). Are you getting just a white screen? You just need to switch the view. View > viewports > configure.

I can't even click on anything, as soon as I press left mouse button it says that the program is not responding and I have to close it.

So... it's not the steam version of UT.
I know that Win8.1 had some similar issues like Win10 ...hm...

Oh, there is a steam version? Will it maybe solve my problem? (@papercoffee da steht "in ihrem Land nicht verfügbar" was mach ich jetzt?) It might get rid of the issue but I want to hear other suggestions first

This sounds like a DEP problem, so try to disable it for UEd. (DEP stands for Data Execution Prevention, and it's just Windows actively preventing some stuff from running)

One other solution is to run it in Windows XP compatibility mode, although it shouldn't be necessary however.

How about:
Also, what's the full path your UT install is located at? Is it in C:\UnrealTournament?
The engine is rather picky on the path, especially its length.

The Steam version is also slightly borked and is mostly the first guess here when something won't run.Mave wrote:Oh, there is a steam version? Will it maybe solve my problem?
Irgendwo anders kaufen ...UT ist in Deutschland immer noch auf dem Index.Mave wrote: (@papercoffee da steht "in ihrem Land nicht verfügbar" was mach ich jetzt?)
Even GOG has a country filter and won't let you buy it when you are from Germany.

Perhaps UnrealEd had a chance writing something to the log file. You'll find it in the "System" folder of your UT installation and it is named "Editor.log". If it exists and has a adequate time stamp, you could paste it here.
