You can... you have time till the 10th of December.
But it would be nice if you make a new map for the contest.
Don't worry, the map is still a work in progress..

Red_Fist wrote:I have another Quake 1 map (BSP rip) done that I had to resize since 2004 on my system. Would it be ok to turn it into a MH map and be legit ?
I didn't make the brushes (one brush)

I already have the DM done and redone, the lighting I redone and fixed some other things from my first round Quake original. I could even shove that in the zip.

So that way I can work on making an MH out of it and not have to think up a brand new map.
It would be cool if at least it would be your own BSP ... but Jack is already participating with a borrowed map.
hm... would you think this map could be made more awesome? Just a simple Quake1 rip is somehow uncool.

So many people asked already if they could reuse unfinished projects and I said "ok" but it's not very cool.
I thought the purpose of a contest is it to make a map inside the given time-frame.
... I feel like I'm the only one working on a map from scratch in my (now) sparse free time.

Ok ...I say rebuild this map with your own ideas and use UT textures. You can use the Quake1 map as a blueprint or backbone.

Nope, that's cool, I agree with you even though I worked on this thing a lot. It has quake textures and sounds. It has a start and end areas that would work for MH depending on how I make the flow. It's DM END from quake 1.

I have another one I need to resize as well, was a boss level with a lava pool, both are pretty good for DM.

I think I will just make the MH and put both in a zip. not contest stuff.

Oh, and, they are not awesome :(

Here are some latest screenshots. It's still W.I.P but it's so very nearly finished (admittedly, how it SHOULD have looked in 2016).

And I don't want to start a new thread

I've known a lot of pretty maps that play horribly, so screenshots are only a very small part of a map's potential.

So I gather the contest has a RULE specified: "No existing older MAP is allowed".

Okay. So before I do anything else I'd like to discuss the use of existing prefabs in creating maps/contents.

Let me explain -- By prefabs I mean pre-created blocks/groups of CSG brushes, or intersected builder brushes, that you would import or cut-and-paste
into your map in the editor. Things like vehicles, buildings, pipes, bridges, walls, spaceships, architectural forms and trims. In fact, any number of 3-D forms made from multiple brushes (or intersected) and that can including terrains. For example, my Thadaus maps use tons of prefabs.

Getting more to the point:
So when you're in the editor you can do this - add/subtract/add textures, etc., one at a time.
or, Subtract base cubes and then fill them with prefabs, effectively adding several brushes at once.

With that said, I use prefabs when I map and have brushes dating back as far as 2003, same with my custom texture library.
So if I use my prefabs and textures in my contest map. Is anyone going to complain about that?

Suppose I won - will I get accused of cheating because I used prefabs?

Please chime in now!

I don't want to waste my time :|

FraGnBraG wrote:So I gather the contest has a RULE specified: "No existing older MAP is allowed".
No, it does not:
Rules & limits:
-Game type is free, if it's some really exotic one, provide a link where people can download it.
-No restrictions on space, only on file size, which is 75MB ...absolute maximum.
-Any package can be used only exotic packs must be included in the final submission.
-Bot pathing is mandatory.
-Ingame preview screenshot is also mandatory.
-A mapping contest badge must be included somewhere visible in the map or on the preview screenshot.
Terraniux was the one who was making up rules as he went, as none of them are written there, and he's not the one organizing this contest, so although he's entitled to his opinion, he's not the one deciding the rules, therefore you can use whichever prefabs and old maps as you wish.

So can we all please stop indulging in misinformation? Goddamn... :omfg:
