[WIP] CTF-AMC-FloatingDoom

This is my Awesome Mapping Contest entry. I acknowledge it's probably not as awesome, but I made this map for fun. It has a few cool concepts (ladders, dangerous shortcut jumppads, floating items with secret ways to pickup, etc), and I hope you have as much fun playing it as I had making it! :3

This is so tall, and you can hear the wind as you climb down these stairs.

If the Demonic Cube's rotation blocks you when you jump pad between the pad, then go pray to your 'angelical sphere' for salvation!

Stay in the middle, and run too slow, and someone will kill you pronto with a shock combo.

This map is small, but is hopefully interesting.

I really like the atmosphere of the map! It looks and probably plays like those early maps. Basic visuals, nice gameplay with a twist msot of the times. :gj:

Good start ...now make this map more awesome. You have time till 10th of December. :wink:
The sniper is king on your map and everyone trying to take the flag has to snipe as well.
Look at the maps of other more seasoned mapper and look what they have done. Your map seems to have nice concepts but it lacks any visible clarity and playability.
Keep it up.

There is a dark, barely visible (HUGE) cube floating in the middle of the map, which makes sniping difficult, and jump padding dangerous. What else could I add to balance the sniper rifle? Maybe use another weapon, like a rocket launcher or bio rifle, instead?

Well... YES!

And some detail!
It's an intersting idea in a basic coat. You've got plenty of time, add some little details to the map!

Maybe work on a totally awesome skyzone, something unique but practical.

Then try lighting to cast shadows aligned to the suns direction in the skyzone. (or moon) :noidea

It's a trigger that you shoot and plays a music. I won't spoil things ;)

I don't know, fam, this just didn't work out as well as I expected. (It's too small, as well!)

I really like your map. There is one bug that should be fixed: sometimes I start in the void so that I die immediately. Please check the player starts.
Some ideas I got while playing:
Is the purple dividing wall under the cube really necessary? i would like to try to kill a player on the other wall side with the shock rifle, I think it's not that easy. Also as an optical aspect I would remove it perhaps.
What about making a jump pad on the other platform side too, so you have three ways to reach the other side?
This map is not made for sniper rifle in my opinion. Also the sky isn't that bad, you have to look very good before using the jump pads or you will crash into the cube. So the darker background makes sense.
A funny thing could be added into the map, but have no idea what right now...
