Not sure if this is right section. Anyway i was making a small map. For EvilGrins Ridiculous mapping contest (as its small and not time consuming) and i went to go to mylevel to select a texture and it had completely gone.
Could open up the map in Ued but nothing appears yet the file size is still that of the map. Anyway i hadn't done much to the map so i just started over. Got 90% done with it and Mylevel decided to disappear again.
I have no motivation to start thiss again aas it was almost finished (even though its a small map)
Any one know why Mylevel would disappear. And any idea on how to get it back and recover the map?

I think ive figured out what i did wrong. didnt Mylevel the textures as a package and did it as a group. Its the only explanation i can think of.

MyLevel probably didn't disappear, your map probably fails to load.
Open UnrealEd and open it command prompt then load your map. If it appears empty, it probably stops loading the map because of something missing. The command prompt should say "Warning: Failed to load XXX".
If you lack this package, then you can trump the engine by making a dummy: copy another package of the same type and change its name to the missing package name. It should allow you to open the map, but you'll have to recreate the package and reallocate ressources (textures, sounds, etc.)

DON'T make and save a "MyLevel" package-file name EVER !!!!!
You forgot to save the map.
I assume if you had a texture and made a new MyLevel with a group, it should still show up in the group, if you used "MyLevel" and added a group under it.

MyLevel it's a PseudoPackage not a PseudoGroup. When you have virtual package Mylevel and a wall has a texture from it, map should have that inside it. I have a lot of MB added in MyLevels. I have to admit that sometimes references are gone but Not When Are Used.

And i have a habit of saving before and after i rebuild so i know i was saving it.
