Hillforts with Titans

Post by EvilGrins »

2 bases separated by mountains and a river, makes for a fun CTF game.

That looks painful.

Usual Suspects:
.u - /system
.unr - /maps
.png - pwetty

Enjoy!

I wanted to try it out, but I seem to be missing the proper mod. What mod does UTDMT stand for?

It's not missing, I just checked.

In the .zip is a UTDMT.u file. That's it.

Put it into your /systems folder.

As a general point, I wonder if it would be appropriate to include the readme from the original map in the distro of an edited version? In this way, people wil be made aware of who made the original (I know that this is indicated in the map's screenshot) and may gather other useful information like other maps made by that mapper (should they wish to seek them out) and any possible issues with the map to which the maker has drawn attention.

Possibly but many of the maps I edit I've had for years and no longer have the original readme.

This one can be had here ctf-hillforts_48011342.html

It's a pity the Titans don't actually say anything despite there being lots of text 'messages'.

One interesting but useless fact is that they disappear when the first cycle of MonsterSpawn ends and don't, of course, reappear.

That can be configured, if one chooses to take the time to do so.

One of many reasons I don't use MonsterSpawn except when playing Last Man Standing.

No, I meant actual speech/sounds rather than just the text speech that appears in the talk area of the HUD. It would mean replacing the Acquire/Roam/Threaten/Fear and other sounds.

Fun aspect having the titans fighting for you.
As red player I could not score by returning the blue flag into my base. Might this be an issue?

It would be confusing. I've played the map lots of times. you take the flag from the other base and tag it to your flag in the center of your base. Pretty basic CTF.

...and I usually play on red.

Unless your own flag was missing... can't score if the other team has taken it.

How many times did you try and fail to score?

Curiously, the flag texture for both flags is the same - Botpack.Skins.jpflagB which is the blue flag, so in the Editor both flags appear blue but in the game they are the right colours (one red and the other blue). I don't know if that is normal or if it would make a difference. Certainly, as EG says, the red team scores on taking the blue flag back to the red flag when I tried it briefly.

That's actually fairly normal. Having edited an insane number of CTF maps, very few of them in UnrealEd show the Red Flag as Red.

Hey McFrag, what mutators are you running when you play CTF?

Yeah probably that was the reason. It has been a while since I last played CTF.... Sorry for the confusion
