Masked textures not working. Edit the pallete to fix it.

Post by Zero_khan »

It appears that photoshop reverses the order of the colors in the pallete. The background color, the color that is going to be transparent, is always the last in the pallete, but unreal looks for the first.

Open PCX in irfanview
Export the pallete as PAL
Edit PAL in notepad

It should be a list of numbers in RGB 0 - 255 form. Now in notepad you can change the first color to the color that you want.

Import pallete back and save PCX.
Good Bye. I'm leaving UT99 behind. I won't be around for UT's 30th.

Did you convert it into an 8-bit image?

Yes.

The other solution is to use GIMP.

While I was converting 32bits PNG to 8bits I noticed that photoshop never places the background color as the first in the pallete. It's always in some other place.

PCX transparency being moved around is a known problem, which is why using BMP for 8bit images is more reliable.
