Fixing a BSP hole

Post by EvilGrins »

Found one right there... it's not huge or anything, mostly can't be seen from most sides, but it's kinda glaring when you notice it.

Doing an edit of a THUNDERBOLT map (got his permission) and mostly prepping it for standard CTF while leaving most of the SLV aspects.

How do I fix that?

Map has brushes stripped out. There are very few chances for solving this problem and obtaining a decent aspect. Nearby that spot there is another missing surface... and if I'm looking more, all that stuff has multiple surfaces causing HOMs.

That which you circled in yellow is pretty heavy throughout the area around the flag. Different levels, different light shades. I was trying to even it up while re-texturizing the glaring blue and red of the bases.

Plus the blinky animation lights around the flag are from a texture which does not align well.

assuming the brush polys are intact, does moving/scaling it a little bit help?

If I solved that non colliding wall in DavidM2 and that Arena6, here I might need more work and I don't think I have patience for that. As long as map has no brush, things are going ugly...
If you want to try anything, this is a version with paths completed, but having those described geometry issues...
