Coming soon to a subway station near you
Re: Coming soon to a subway station near you
Very cool idea, nicely executed (as always)
Just played the standard, large DM map thus far - good gameplay, great atmosphere - particularly like the radio and announcer sounds and the adverts which all add to creating the 1979 feel.
Noticed there is only one med pack?
For authenticity one could play the Team map using StuffSwapper to swap the enforcer for a knife from one of the 'RL' weapons mods (CS, DA, AX, etc).
Must seek out the film - don't think I have seen it.

Re: Coming soon to a subway station near you
Thanks JimmyCognitti and OjitroC
Yes, the health vials are found mainly inside the vending machines. It takes a while just to get to the train yard, so I added a med pack and shield belt there to make the trip worth while.
"StuffSwapper?" Great idea!
In the movie there are actually only 2 guns. This map is better suited for melee weapons only.
Thanks again.

Re: Coming soon to a subway station near you
I'm a big fan of maps that're set in somewhat to extremely realistic places, and I've a few subway maps. Some that you have displayed on posters in this map, others that're not.
This is a very large map you have and I like it, though the "very large" is a slight quirk with the CTF to me... but I'll get back to that.
I'm curious about something regarding the trains.
Down in the subways, on either end, you have these 2 VERY BRIGHT subway cars:
Also down there, closer to the middle, you have a subway car that's more realistically lit:
Out a side tunnel there's a surface station with several subway cars... one of which that moves:
What I'm wondering are those brightly lit ones. Why are they so bright, given most of what's down there and the map overall is fairly darkly lit.
Saw a random message about a "ghost train" but not sure what that was about. While I'm familiar with the movie, I've never actually seen it.
Thing with the CTF is it seems to me that the Flag Bases are too close together. Past the Red Flag and past the Blue Flag is an excessive amount of space, the entirety of the subway tunnels on one side and the other a really long stretch of dark tunnels going nowhere. Seems to me that there's a lot more room available to put some more space between those flags.

Re: Coming soon to a subway station near you
Just in case J doesn't come back on here for a while.
That's addressed in the readme
It's pity that they are so bright but it looks like there's no way around that.Q: Why are the trains so bright?
A: UnrealEd sometimes has issues with lighting movers. All moving trains use UNLIT textures to insure they are 100% visible at all times regardless of any lighting issues. Some trains use natural "lit textures" so you can see what they look like before being converted into movers.
You did try using the ones that move (the brightly lit ones) to traverse the whole of the map to get to Coney Island?
An idea for another map would be arrival at the Coney Island station and then a visit to some of the attractions, the beaches and the boardwalks - not that I have been there.

I did a walkthrough of the maps in spectator mode, haven't played on them yet.
