LOL
I also created a "face" map a long time ago, I think I still have it in my HD, but I made it out of fun.

Nice....

I get real less time to map... so i couldn't think of anything better :enforcer: ...

Actually its a spaceship and had to open it at one place.... so i decided at that moment to make it like a face of a smily  ... The insides are having cannon like structures for making people fly above at platforms and has lift to reach the top. The side view is more like the spacecraft effect :). Will post the pics tomorrow when it has little more stuff added. (currently it looks suckingly empty though)

Till then jus njoy the view....
Regards,
Rohit

I've finally managed to find it... here is the map from which I've got my inspiration from.

After all this is a screenshot thread:
Looking up from the lowest section of the map.
Looking up from the lowest section of the map.
Probably the last screen before the release...

Edit: I ran into some bugs... it may take a while...

Do the purple lights have an effect on them? Looks like watery shimmer.
I like the cyan and orange, but the purple kills it for me.

Very nice, well chosen poly count and good atmosphere (:
About to be non-active

What I want to do next: Joining an UDK team (uncertain however) and improve 3D modelling and texture editing skills

Speaking of wich, where could I find some tutorials about polycounts? I wanna know what's the standard and recommended amount in wich the engine flows nicely? In different situations and so. Checked the links in the tutorials post it but nothing about that. And also wanted to know how to track the polygon count in the editor and game.

P.S: Dunno if I should open a new thread about this or not =\

I dunno, but I think 450 would be pretty ok-ish. I could suggest you some of the FOT mappack-maps like Swankys CTF-FOT-Selket. It looks very good but has no noticeable performance problems. But on the other side, polys are not everything. Sometimes you can also fake with good textures a detailled construction but this makes it necessary to know which textures are useful for that. And seriously, I doubt that Crypt has many of those textures, if any.

Last week I decided to start making maps after having drawn a whole bunch of 'em on paper. The first one I'm making is a remake of an old UBX classic, which is basically the map that appears on the entire series all along but changed a bit each time. It's called 'The Base', it doesn't have a very nice-sounding name but it's a good map, here's a 'small' WIP screenshot
