Maybe some industrial theme mixed with nature... abandon Factory... or something else.

Or totally freak out ...with surreal architecture.

Myth do you build the sky-box?

Ok, I've got my Internets back.
Me building the skybox? ... we don't even know if we need one.

I'm going whit Industrial. You can extend it whit whatever you wish. Add sections that are destroyed and overgrown, and eventually evolve into an exterior map whit terrain. Just try to keep a little bit of consistency... unless you want a madhouse where you're playing against the level instead of other bots/players.

I have some time tomorrow. So I'll post a new thread containing the section and some guidelines this Wednesday.

Sounds interesting. I won't participate as i would only class myself as beginner-intermediate mapper. But am interested to see the progress of this.

Jump on in Whitey. The very best way to learn is to challenge yourself.

I have no illusions I am even in the same room with some of the mappers here, but you'll find a lot of support no matter your skill level. Seeing how others develop an idea is going to be really cool too.

Who cares, as long as you know that you can/have to improve yourself. Self-criticism can be a good thing. At least you will not release complete trash then.
I mean.. look here: http://www.utzone.de/forum/downloads.ph ... le&id=3501
Sorry, I can not even call that a map. Its a egypt tunnel spammed with weapons. Nothing more. Some mapper invest maybe 2 or 3 hours into a map and might think "whoaa, I am ready".

BTW: Recently I noted who difficult it is for me to build something more or less "real", example a normal house (of course with accessible).

And those are the kinds of maps that get played on popular servers :x
People like simple layouts. Anything more than 2 levels of Z-axis or two routes to the flag is too much to handle.
I played CTF-PoolstoneSE the other day and people complained after a 10 minute round that they kept getting lost and to take
the map off of the server. If I have to play one more round in Thorns or Barnburner I just might throw up. Players don't understand or appreciate the amount of work that goes into making a great map.

Yeah, Whitey...
If I can participate - YOU surely can too! :tu: :P
I am pretty much an Old Skool mapper.
I think the map will be cool having all sorts of areas!

If nothing else, just do a smaller and/or easy area. :tu:

So true.. shit times when the number of downloads for a map does not mirror the quality itself (anymore?)

I got the first section finished today. I haven't touched unrealed for quite some time. It was awesome mapping again.

There are 5 marked brushes from where you can continue building from it. I hope you won't have to wait for someone to finish. Unfortunately someone will have to wait if 6 angry mappers storm the thread when it gets online.

These brushes got the "replace me texture" and they are begging to be built.

So, I'll post the new thread tomorrow whit all the rules and guidelines.

This Sir is called a funnel map ...I call it shit-storm map. on top of the ramp are mostly 5 or 8 redeemers, instagib, shield-belt, health, amplifier and other things ...if some one comes so far he can spam the spawning enemies with all this super weapons.
It is quiet fun to play for ...4 minutes ...but other people play only such maps, over and over again :omfg:
I can't get it.

Ok, for some obvious reasons (whit some not so obvious ones) It got delayed by one day.
There was a massive hailstorm here and when I got home the site was updating.

I'm posting when I get home.
Until then you can check out this screenshot. This is the current state of it all, and as you can see there are Replace Me brushes all over the place.
