Alright mappers,
It's time to invade UP.
It's time to go over to Unreal Playground and support this thread:
http://www.unrealplayground.com/forums/ ... hp?t=54818
This is an unique opportunity and by the looks of it it will probably be one of the last mapping contests held at UP (if it will happen)
If you call yourself a mapper you definitely wouldn't like to miss this.

Re: Mapping contest @ UP
uhu.... what is this?
sounds interesting ...contest means, my map will be in a package with other map? Or only the first 3 or 4 best maps?

Re: Mapping contest @ UP
what, more explanation is needed?
this is how it works:
1. you make an awesome map
2. you submit that map
3. all maps will be available for download on xmas as a mappack
4. the maps get rated either by voters or by reviewer or both
5. best map wins and it's author gets famous
simple, no?
We live in a time when we can't afford to discard lame maps and everyone is happy that some maps are made. So I'm guessing even cubemaps won't be discarded from the final map pack.

I might sign up. Can't make up my mind, addicted to Civ 5. Been playing the same Epic length / Deity difficulty game for past 5 days (50+ hours easily), 100 more turns to go. This game has consumed any semblance of social life I used to have, not to mention my time spent on mapping.
Re: Mapping contest @ UP
I will sign up. maybe i can find some time till xmas.
Actually i have two ideas i wanted to put through recently, maybe this contest will give me the motivation to put one of those into practical...

Re: Mapping contest @ UP
It's near impossible to get something going now for UT.
People always complain (myself included) about their personal lives or another game taking up their freetime.
The motivation just isn't there. A list of guaranteed participants should be made.
Anyhow, are there any guidelines?
Size? Gametype? Theme?
Or is it anything goes?
What about prizes?

You can play any game whenever you wish.
The prize here is nothing else that the work itself, but by the looks of it I'd say this could be the very last mapping contest.
If you call yourself a mapper you can ignore your current gaming addiction for a few days and cook up something we'll all remember.

@Sergeant Todd:
I think SzGergo papercoffee, TheDane and myself are going to participate... but you won't really know that until x-mas arrives.
You can look at the thread at UP anytime you wish.
Hey, why don't you give a try? If you put a little bit of effort into it, people will appreciate it. I will appreciate it even if you don't.

Re: Mapping contest @ UP
I once had this idea for a gothic town by a lake with a rustic, gritty medieval theme together with great original sound effects
(my speciality), secret powerups, and great gameplay. Then Rob the Master Builder made the map first (like he could read my mind) as part of the Nocturnal UNLD pack - it's called DM-Epitaph.
Thanks for the encouragement though, Myth....
