I never managed to draw such layouts for my maps, only rather some simply concept arts in terms of architecture parts. But indeed looks good, from what I can see there.

yesterday I try'd build every room seperate with the 2d editor.. but it didn't work out like i wanted. 2d editor way to go? Or would you use a different technique? (note: the surrounding building facades have to be visible from the central/outside area. #5 )

I'll try the gaph paper renegade!

As for previous posts! I think It was "attack" who stated a custom beer powerup, I LIKE this :) Direction? > A berserk powerup where your vision blurs or the cursor is getting dragged away a bit, just like your tipsy/drunk?

K editor time.

crev, I've made the additives (solids  ) with the 2d ed. Later on i would stick on roofs and such. the substracts have been scaled down by vertex editing.
I guess this is how to do a map like this? or is there a better way to do this? :/

LOL, ...

you could do this if those semi solids were Static meshes, but I really do not recommend to do this that way.

I mean, 2D shape editor is of course the right tool, but I actually was sure you would build several 2D shape extruded subtracts but surely not semi solids like here.
You can use some adds if you "can not" build the rooms with the 2d shape editor alone only or not that well.
You WILL get ugly bugs later on that way and semi solids are nasty. Disappearing polygons/surfaces, disappearing colllision sometimes ... NOT good. I am not an engine or semi solid usage expert, but bsp is tricky-bitchy anyway.

Really? I could swear those structures there "within" the cube are ones according from the .. little bit small picture and their brush colour.

Google for "beer powerup" and the first thing you might find is your own avatar. Somehow creepy how fast google can include those forum pages into their "index".

Anyway, this could be the big powerup:

A big bottle as health pack, a small one for health vials...

And an other edit:
however the berserk powerup would be needed to replaced, I dont know if this is doable in combination of the powerup charger. Ferali????

attack: Ye sure man :) i know peanuts about coding. can i find you on irc?
Crev: Till this point there are no semi's in the map yet, The colours of the brushes really differ :S not ur fault :D

A view from the ed to look at the differences in height, i used richig as temporary texture pack
Image
looking back at the sketch,
1. would be the room with big bronze kettles,
2. Tower for the second day of yeasting
With a basic thinking of a yeasting basement. Comments
3. would be the bottling band. also a problem point to solve*
4. shipment dep. ?
5. Outside area
6. Cold storage
7. dead corner possible entrance of the hot basement. dunno yet

As the next step i'm planning to make some archiiii! Ye ye yes :loool:
Doorways first, then roofing.
Maybe a bridge crossing the outer area from room six 2 two??
Struts and pillars here and there!
Basement entrances.

?Night OR Day? :omfg:

Cheers

This would be funny, but I'm not sure I would pick up that power-up during a serious 1v1. I'd rather be shooting sober.

Also, I wouldn't use the 2D editor for those rooms. It doesn't look as clean as it would if you made them using individual subtracts/adds.
Examples:

Random shape I made in the 2d editor on the left.
The Same shape made using 3 separate subtracts and brush clipping/vertex editing on the right.
It takes a little longer to make, and you have to do an intersect to make the one on the right a single brush, but the result is much cleaner (visually at least).
If I wanted to, I could've made the whole shape with one brush using some inventive clipping.
Anyways, in the end don't forget to MERGE POLYGONS.

UT3 - Try out DM-Biohazard.
Actually some hardcore gamers think the Berserk is a stupid powerup generally since its considered as way too powerful (well yes ok, double fire rate speed.. thats something indeed).
