Trees

Post by FrostInks »

I have UnrealEd 2.0 and was wondering how I can get those tree meshes in the mesh browser onto my map.
This is a project for school so can I get the info ASAP.
Thanks.

Select the tree you you wish to place in the actor class browser Image (The trees are in the category Decoration), then right click on a surface in the world and choose "add xyz (that's the tree you selected before)". That works with every decoration (for example plants or lamps) and every other actor in the browser (such as special lights, effects, enemies, etc.).

Those default trees however are ugly as hell (not because of the textures), even the hardcore Unreal 1 freaks say so.

Once I uploaded some other trees, custom made by other people somewhere in the past:

btw you can turn most actor into a tree. under the properties there are menus suchs as "Display" and "Advanced" There you can set things such as whether you want the actosr to be visible or not, if yes, should it be a sprite or mesh or whatever, you can set the tree mesh for it using the mesh browser, set some texture, you can scale it, set same base luminance, etc.
As most acotrs, the decoration class has its own special features in its properties. For example you can set the decoration to have some HP, and if destroyed you can render some effect and make the deco spawn some other actor, for example loot.
