Some screenshots

Post by Raylen »

I thought I posted this last night, but obviously it didn't work or something. Anyhow, I promised Isotoxin I'd post some screenshots somewhere of a new project I have using terrain. I also have a couple of questions:

- how can I avoid the "checkerboard" effect seen on some curved textures here, and to some extent on the terrain?
- is there a simple way to align terrain surfaces without moving and rotating the brush a few times?

While I'm here, thanks again to Myth for the perfectly aligned sphere which works so well in the skybox :)

The first time I saw the mode, I said: "WTF, Unreal Puzzle Tournament?"
Then I started playing it... 1) I got better on movement and dodging; 2) When you finish a map (a long one, hopefully), without checkpoints, you can easily say: "OH F**K I DID IT!!1

Try it ;)

Oh, map is very very good about the visuals, but we have to see gameplay too ;)

Same thing here. BT gave me the dodging ability I was lacking in other gametypes, even when I am not exactly playing but testing something, I keep dodging just to get faster to a certain position.

It would be an honor to be killed on that map.

I think it does. The checkpoint system and the BT Mod itself... there is no bot support btw LOL
For servers, there are a lot active, like the FBT ones (no spam).

That 'checkerboard' effect you speak of may be solved by setting the darker textures to 'bright corners' in their properties.
If that doesn't work, move some light actors around or try setting the affected textures to low shadow detail.
Pro tip: checking both high & low shadow detail results in super low shadow detail, which may also help with that problem.

Bright Corners however is very buggy if used with UT`s Ed. At some point the engine will screw up the lighting rebuild with those "overflows" (random generated shadows and dark spots).

BTW: Please do not call it PROTIP

Sometimes, protip is used ironically 8). Though I suppose it's an intermediate tip.

In BT, map kills you!

Did I use that one right? Anyway, I tried the high and low shadow detail, but in this case it didn't work for me. Thanks for all the nice feedback, it's appreciated...as for when will it be finished, well I dunno, I have to make at least one more terrain, with some actual obstacles, as well as writing a 20000 word dissertation, so it may be a little while :F

Very nice! Terrain looks great, and the natural lighting is spot on :)
