to avoid future missing file issues...

Post by EvilGrins »

Is there a utility that can tell you every little thing that is required for a map you finished, to be put into the .zip or .rar or whatever, so there's no missing files before you send it out to other people?

I think it was "Map Manger" that I had trouble with - took forever to set up on my comp, probably because of the large amount of files in my UT install.
It went almost 40 minutes and Map Manager was still setting itself up with all my files, so I shut it down and un-installed it.

Another one that is highly recommended to me by Kelly (JackGriffin) is "Mapper's Dream".
I haven't tried Mapper's Dream yet myself, but I hope it sets itself up easier and faster than Map Manager tried to do.
I do not have the link at this moment of this posting, but I can get it to you evilgrins. :tu:
See how Mapper's Dream compares to Map Manager and let us/me know evilgrins.

Well, it seem that this forum only show up for [zOm]Map Manager lol (Was doing a Google search)... I'm looking for instruction on how to use it. Even tho I've used it just to find the files for the map, but there is more features in it that I'd want instruction to use it.

I've tried setting up Mappers Dream but I can not ever get it to work. I'd need instruction on that as well. (Didn't put it in the right place or what, couldn't install it right.)

If anyone is interested to tell... please do. Will appreciate it!

I haven't tried the zOm tool yet, but Mappers Dream is easy as can be.

It does not matter where you install it, it works from anywhere.

Just point it at the UT folder.
Then use the top file-box to choose the map.
Tick "Show only custom packages".

Depending on how many files you have, it can take a while.
I think it must be checking the files by loading them. Scanning my System folder takes ages.

You can export as a list, into a folder, or get it to zip them for you.
I favour it putting them in a folder so I can check, organise and add docs and pics.

Ah, thanks for showing it to me. If I remember correctly, when I put the mapper dream anywhere on my PC and start it up, I get some errors. So, I'm not too sure.
It looks nice how it got files in order. lol.

But I think I like [zOm] Server Map Manager better. Pic:

Note: I did used the zip, it worked fine. But trying to compress the files (redirect), I get this error:
Image
& Been using compressAlotv1.1 for awhile now... I just want something easier now lol.
I also used the add map & file to the ftp list. It does show up on the server side... I just can't figure out what to put in the line to add it on my server. & I also can't figure out how to add in the redirect part. (Even tho I did see it come up before when I was messing around, but not sure.) - See next screen shot-

Anyone have any idea?
