Could there be a obvious reason why i get below error when trying to load the map on a XC based server?
It could not pass my attention that the utx is 83 mb.

Sorry for bumping, but error seems relevant as i would like to load this map.
When i choose the map from the map vote, server log gives:

Code: Select all

Browse: CTF-FacePalm?Name=Player?Class=Botpack.TMale2?Team=0?skin=SoldierSkins.blkt?Face=SoldierSkins.Othello?Game=Botpack.CTFGame?mutator=MVES.MapVote,CCHS3.CCHS?MinPlayers=1?

Creavion can't help here.
There is nothing clever or freaky in the map, it is just high res.
Perhaps "Higor" will have to look at the error.

If you do a web search you'll see that this looks like a common error that seems to be caused be a corrupt map. What checksum has your file "CTF-FacePalm.unr"? My 7Zip says:
CheckSums_CTF-FacePalm.unr.jpg

The map is just lustrous!
I wonder which tool/tools did Creavion used to make the mountains...Does anyone here knows? :?:

That is what I am hoping for.
I should have posted this under XC, sorry for that.

Hoping a mod can make this a thread with the posts under XCDiscussions, otherwise will start a new thread.

Open the map in UnrealEd and follow the instructions given at the BIG notepad icon:

(Tomorrow I'll add the excerpt from the extensive (15 kiB) documentation here. :satan:)

There are also a lot of ready-to-use skyboxes.

Thanks! :D
EDIT:
I found out what the trick was...Alas! The mountains are 2d textures. But why I did not realised that before?
Because never heard about that map before; this is why when I looked at the screenshot which Creavion posted I thought the mountains might be 3d...I just started playing UT99 in 2018.
EDIT 2:
Remove the Satan emoji( :satan: ), before some one makes a conspiracy theory on that scenario...

Trickery with the eyes is the secret to blending a good skybox and map.
You will notice that the direction of the sun matches the shadows in the map, and the lighting colour also matches the skybox.
The previous map DM-FeelNaPali is another fine example of a skybox made with the map.
That even makes me feel like there is a warm breeze when you go to 1 side of the map and look at the sunset.

If you want to get lost in a Creavion jungle then you need to play the map DM-Kamah which is in our second community pack from a few years ago.

Such a shame we never got the High resolution update :(

There is also the Antalius MonsterHunt map

A bit later than last week's tomorrow, but here it is:
Creavion wrote:Skybox:
The skybox is rendered in 3ds Max by using several textures which are also used in the map. It was nearly as much as work as the map itself, just think about all the trees which needed to get placed manually, one by one. Any used texture to create the skybox is also based on ut2004 stock content. I have not used any textures from user created maps.

Oh, I thought this was obvious. 8)

Thanks for informing me! :gj: :tu:
When I saw the map with mountains I was shocked as I thought that making DM-Antalus(a UT2003/4 DM map) with UEd2.5 was possible without using vertex editing :loool:
I thought that I had to update DM-Amazonia with advanced terrain...
I assumed that Creavion used something similar to this:
https://wiki.beyondunreal.com/Legacy:Us ... rrain_Tool
But you helped me to solve the mystery. :D

Enjoy it or use to barf your dinner.
Usage of S3TC highly recommendable.
I’m not meaning to necrobump this thread or anything but the map name tho…

Still, great map! :gj:
