Hiya... First one in 2013 - I decided to finish it after all :)

Not great, not bad - bit of a different twist on the old level ...

that said, imo best with 5 vs 5 masterful+ bots (more if you like spam and chum bits everywhere)

Tested pretty quickly - I think it should work okay...
Can you let me know if anything really bad happens?

Lol, i was lazier and simply linked the lower and upper zones with a nice warp portal.
It was more focused on IG and Siege than anything.

The green lighting on mid heals the player, and needs translocator to get in there.
(The map has a nasty embedded actor that manually fixes the display in a warp zone by editing a CONST variable)

Okay, few things:
1) Great bot pathing.
2) I actually have the ctf-gateway you built this one from. Didn't realize at first but playing it I kept going "could swear I've been here before".
3) Love the music choice. CTF-Gateways (used to have a thing for tracking down maps with Stargates) music is one of my faves.
4) The pickups were awesome!

So far, not one bad thing to say about it.

Looks great. The red flagroom reminds me of the coop portal map.

@genMokai - hey gen, good to hear from you:) where's your underwater CTF? did you ever finish it? i've been waiting patiently :D

@higor - hmmm... i was aware there were other versions of the gateway map out there, but i only looked at one ctf which was pretty horrible... i'd always had my own CTF ideas for the old map, and since i did a bit of theme work on it during the 2012 XMAS contest the "pattern" was there... interstingly, warpzones didn't work out in this one, especially when embedded in the gateway brushes, so i used teleporters instead - that said, they are no really relevent to the gameplay - bots will use them if they spawn in the gate rooms or are chasing you.

@grins - thanks dude :) this one's free for anyone to modify as they wish as long as everyone gets their credits - there's a note in the readme on activating the gateway movers (have them open and close, if desired :) i simply left them in the open position for gameplay reasons...

I'm not sure about what CTF-gateways you have? I built this map from the original Unreal map (the geteway map that came with UNREAL) damn, i just realised i did not credit the music author - oh well, that's almost a "standard" track by now :)

Anyone here ever set up Strangelove in an offline map? Has strangelove been replaced with something newer?

CTF-Gateways isn't the same, just has the same music. Two bases on asteroids, with a central place, connected by Stargates:

There's actually 2 different versions of CTF-gateway, but one didn't have bot pathing so I didn't keep it.

Yours is MUCH better on all fronts. Especially love how you threw in the LCARS displays!

oh of course CTF-Gateways by GUI (i guess my memory's going, lol!) yeah, i always liked that one, although, his was a rebuild of somebody else's earlier map - i guess even the great mappers in UT history had to start by "editing" other's work, lol ... thanks for the memory jog :tu:

I'm just updating my stupid website afterwhich (is that a word?) I will choose another map to work on (I think I want "Big and Ugly" done - i'm going to see if I can get strangelove working in it... i never made (or played, for that matter) a strangelove map, but BnU is a huge playspace so it might work with some tweaks)...

if that doesn't pan out, I have 2 assault maps (which btw will also be released as MH maps) I know I can finish one of those now since Creavion's graciously allowed me to use his plant life meshes :tu:

I played with Strangelove offline when I first got it.
Didn't play it much, but I guess that may have been due to the AI at the time.

Hook is looking to add a new flying aspect. Maybe you can serve each-others needs?

Not Strangelove, but will need the same requirements.
He is obviously thinking server-mod, but some of the aspects are better built-in to a map.

hmm... thanks :) something to think about... i've actually spent the last day and a half playing monster-hunt maps (derdak's stuff never ceases to amaze me, although hellfireV3 strangely seems like zephon) Anyways, i think i'm going to work on MH projects next ... it's occurring to me they've got to be bigger floorplan maps, and so moderate on details... i'll see how far i get in the next few days and maybe post something if i get far enough :)
