As it goes, I played the maps and loved them... but my general concern with any maps I get is how playable they are for bots. So I setup 10 minute matches, put a random 8 bot selection up, and gave them a run through on all of these, Deathmatch only.
Figured that as one of the DM's is a DOM, they kinda covered each other.
Not all of them, though. 48SC-RedRust was unplayable:
Not entirely sure what that means. Looks like it's asking for another map in order to access it... which is kinda weird.
48SC-InversalLiandri is my favorite. It's an arena match that's both LARGE and not at the same time:
A large central area with seemingly 2 halls. It uses Warp Zones, so no matter where you go in the tunnel you always wind up back in the central arena, very well handled too... for the most part. Occasionally a bot would get caught up in the warp zone, and be stuck there until he was gibbed by another going through it or shot. Warp zones have both vertical and horizontal uses here, which can play havoc on spectators too, as it happens, if they try to ascend up into them...
...though not "up" if they're looking in the direction they're headed.
Saying that last one is my favorite isn't entirely fair, because 48SC-Reverie is just as good if not exactly the same for me. Multi-level combat: in the mountains, in the structure that's in the mountains, in caves, underwater, in underwater tunnels, and still more than that:
Bots played the map great with only 1 major hangup and some minor ones. The lifts seemed to confuse bots at some points, but not often. Major issue was getting out of the water near the main entrance to the structure near the center of the map. Music was amazing, never heard that one before.
The only thing about 48SC-GlaciemOtium that didn't work for me was the music. I mean, it fits the map's environment perfectly... I just didn't like it.
Other than that, great map, bots seemed to play it fine. A few hangups near lifts, going passed it and getting hung up in the structure of it. There's also this one edge of mountain bots would often keep trying to jump up to, which they couldn't without jumpboots, and stay stuck bouncing there until something killed them. Also has great multi-level fighting, near as I can tell you can't enter any of the buildings.
