THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
Re: THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
I have an idea for another map but with 2 and a half days remaining it's not that likely that I will be able to finish it in time :/

Re: THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
well you still have falling through floors happening in your ctf map - check the upper doorway near flak ammo on the left - both red and blue base this time... if you don't want to fix the brushing then you should put some blockalls to form a solid collision floor ...{S.o.W}DeathMask wrote:Well, I finished Ataraxia in 2 days and a half, so...

Re: THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
I wrote it into the Map description. I always liked the idea of putting around some "invisible" traps, or covered passages. I liked that "bug" so I decided to keep it. In case many others won't agree with me, I'll release a V3 version of it, with the collision enabled on those spots.{S.o.W}DeathMask wrote:Access to the bridge from the left side is with no volume, so you'll fall down. It's applied to both sides. - it's not a bug, I liked the idea
In the meanwhile, I attach a V2 of the map as there have been a little typo on Author name and a little (barely noticeable) detail adding on the main chamber. V2 by Memsys.

Re: THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
So, with the deadline tomorrow, how will the entire thing be processed? I have not distributed the version of my map that contains the brushes. Is someone going to collect absolute-final versions of all maps and distribute a special "UT99.org 512K Mappack"? If yes, this person should ask mappers to send him a zip with the final map, the readme and the map+brushes (and the pack have all the map, a "readme" folder with all the readmes and a "Building" folder with all the maps+brushes).
How will the voting take place? Will we have a number of points to distribute among the maps (say 3 for our favorite, 2 for the next and 1 for a third, 0 for the rest), just one voice each on what map was the best? Will there be a dedicated topic for this? Will we be able/have to comment and explain our decision and write a short blurb for each map? How? Why? When? Where?

You must construct additional pylons.

Re: THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
I will answer this tomorrow ...right now I'm fighting with movers ...they don't like me!
Edit---------------
The Contest ends on the 1.December 2014 ...This means the 1.December count as last day of the contest.
The contest is over when the clock says 0:00 (or 12 A.M.) for everyone on the world. http://www.worldtimezone.com/index24.php

Papercoffee, I noticed you didn't edit the map list on page 1. When /if you do so, what author will you put Caliginous map under?
Re: THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
Allright, here we go: CTF-512K-CostaDelw00t
I did not really change much about the map compared to the post I made about a month ago, I just have been busy with my studies, and I have been working on another mapping project (Bunnytrack).
I am fairly happy with how it turned out, I guess it could be more improved some more, but it is playable and I guess it could be fun to play.
I did consider the suggestion of changing the killing water to non-killing, but that would have also require more structural changes to the map
and I did not really have the time to try it out.
Was definitely a nice experience trying to get the file size very low, I always have the habit of throwing way to many things in my maps .
But I guess I can get to the conclusion I am just not as good at mapping for other gametypes than BT
Anyways, Have fun!

Re: THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
Whew! I just finished the BSP (99% atleast) and lighting for my third map, all it needs now is pickups and pathing.
The map is currently at 466K leaving a mere 46K, that is going to be tight!
not bad for a days worth of work

Re: THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
Darn, thanks memsys.
Btw. I'm out ...couldn't get the mover work as they should. The mainframe is stable but the mover got invisible polygons and nasty HOMs. I will try to work with meshes, and release the map later, but not for the contest.
My map is DNF.

I updated the first post with the missing maps.
Please confirm that all of them are linked correctly ...I did catch a cold and can't brain today.

Re: THE 512kb MAPPING CONTEST
i should point out/remind that you can play hellkeeper's DOM-512K-Qesh as a Deathmatch map as well (just copy/rename)
it plays pretty well too, so maybe this should count as two maps, LOL
ps - imo the DM's need more competition so this would be a good thing ...
