Alright let's try out a few things.

Have you tried opening different kinds of maps? Default maps?

Have you tried setting compatibility settings?

...google the error?... lol that's all I got from top of my head atm.

FIXED!

All by myself.

Sort of.

Win 7
Right click My Computer > properties > advanced system settings (on left menu) >advanced tab > performance settings > Data execution tab.
Add unreaded.exe to the list and reboot PC.

Done :tu:

^^ Glad you got it solved that way.

It's set the same here for like more than a year after I first got that error, sometimes I think this has to do with the updated opengl renderers I installed back then for ut99.

heliumcat, UEd2 completely ignores the new renderers and you are stuck with SoftDrv.SoftwareRenderDevice.
...unless you edited the ini files and swapped the window renderer to a different one.

I have this in my UT ini
[Engine.Engine]
WindowedRenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice

and in the UnrealEd.ini
[U2Viewport2]
Device=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice

Using new renderers in UEd means you can edit with compressed and hi-res textures

If you are having a problem with UEd, I recommend keeping a dedicated mini install for editing, and play UT from your full loaded folder.
I use this handy repack called "Unreal Editor 2.1 Extended Standalone edition"
http://hof.entre-okc.com/forum/topic.as ... IC_ID=2466
UnrealEditorv21Setup.exe - 291MB
http://www.ut-files.com/index.php?dir=U ... eveloping/
http://unrealtournament.99.free.fr/utfi ... eveloping/

You can add the folder locations of both installs in both main ini files, so you don't have to duplicate files.

Changing rendering devices here didn't fix it sadly enough and UED21 got flagged as "malware" by Avast here unexpectedly:

I suspect Avast is seeing it as a false positive, as it cannot have unpacked it remotely.
Unfortunately the file is too big to check with VirusTotal

I do know however that all uploads to UT-FILES.com are scanned for malware.

I just rescanned and unpacked the copy I have, with the next Avira Pro (I am a beta tester), and it passes as clean.
If you are happy to trust Avira, then perhaps you may want to try downloading the copy I put in my MS Onedrive
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=2 ... 0bdd%21527

Someone needs to report it to Avast.... *Done*

I gave them your screenshot and some info
