Trying to make one! I doubt it will work!
Used Nem's Terrain tool to make the terrain!

The skybox looks great ...but why are the stars visible through the black part of the huge red planet.

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
Much better.
Your terrain still needs to be aligned, given you are already ready to do that.

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
Honestly...
That terrain is not aligned at all! Perhaps, I was going to ask for help!!
iirc, One method was like this:
1. Rotate the whole terrain by 90 degrees.
2. Use Align to floor method.
3. Rotate the surfaces again 90 degrees.
Now, the problem I faced is that:
1. Terrain looks aligned, but some textures look stretched out. Even rotating them did not help!
2. I sometimes get motion sickness and often get confused!
Even Epic maps doesn't have good terrain alignment (see CTF-Kosov).

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
if you have used the good method (like rotate+align-2-floor), then try substitute the texture (use replace texture option) but DO NOT USE EPIC ROCK TEXTURES.Rocky wrote:Honestly...

Seriously, that Epic rock you are showing is BAD. It's almost 2016... there is no reason to ever use that shitty rock texture any more. Go get better rock textures like
hourances etc, at least 512x512. The results will be much better
Good luck

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
Hey, there's still people who like that particular style of those textures.
Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
Low res textures ftw...
Best texture combination possible are UT + Gothic, so damn seamless.
I extracted every single Gothic texture when I was doing this old port (you saw these already...)
Some can be found on this map, feel free to check it out (and take some)
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8bklo0tm356q ... GIIBa?dl=0
Other samples:
Check the mountain at the bottom, gothic ground, UT rock side.
Gothic grass and lower part of house, UT the rest of the house and stone wall.
The hut using Gothic textures

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
finally... I'm sooo sorry.
Till 10th January is my map also final
If someone can again help making this batch work in UT ...I'm still a poop-noob regarding editor imports of masked textures.

Spoiler
...I had some... well ...private problems, which had a tiny bit more importance than UT.
Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
Alright, here is one 8bit masking ready texture!
In the .zip there is a UT99org-TMC-Masked.png and UT99org-TMC-Import.pcx
As for my map I still have nothing, I tried to remake the terrain with less detail it helped to an extent but the map still ended up being beyond broken.
(at least by making papers texture import ready I contribute something to this contest )

Nice job on the logo, you captured the terrain part pretty good.

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
Looks really great, paper. Well worth the wait
Alright, I'll PM the current entries that the batch is ready and that they should add it to their maps somewhere.
Also, to make sure everyone will have their batches included and maps ready, I'll make the final deadline instead of Jan 10th changed to Jan 15th. Hope that is alright with everyone (don't worry, this will be the final deadline, no more adjustments).
