T2Mechanists.utx- Something new for your walls

Post by niX »

Hey guys, I know its been many years since I have done anything for this community, but I am pretty stoked to see so much new content still being developed for this. To everyone still active in this community, good job

What brings me here today? I pulled an old harddrive from my old rig and started browsing though it realizing that I have a huge amount of things that have never seen the light of day. By things I mean textures, scripts, maps. So what I will do over the course of time is clean it up a bit and dump as much of it as I can out here. I dont expect every single thing to be useful in any way, but who knows? Somebody might find a good use for it. Also, this is very important and please do bare this in mind, It has been a lot of years since I was very active in this game and any content that I will share I cannot take full credit for because there has been a large amount of amazing people helping me create a lot of content, so In advance I apologize if I did not credit someone for something.

What the fuck is T2Mechanists.utx? If you are familiar with the old Thief games such as Dark Shadows and The Metal Age then this will make a bit more sense. I always found the Mechanists in particular a great new theme for a UT map. So I remember gathering a lot of specific textures from that game to build my own maps with them. I dont think I ever did and dont think I ever will. But the texture pack still lives, so I am sharing it with everyone. Its something new for a change. Also keep in mind all these textures are straight from Thief games, a lot of them are pretty low quality. And yes I am aware that there is a mod called Thievery which is basically Thief but on Unreal Engine and comes with a lot more and way better quality content.

I bet I will have a weird moment when I test this pack and the footstep sounds don't match the material.
You must construct additional pylons.

Has this ever worked in UT99? I asked that already here some months ago.

No, it (generally) does not. Some of the per texture settings are strangely broken in UT. There are a couple of mods that tried to fix it but it really needs a native implementation. In fact it's surprisingly hard to even return the proper texture of a surface online. Ferali had to really work a solution to make the NW3 nukes pick up the proper textures for the explosion chunks.
So long, and thanks for all the fish
