1st Annual RIVAL RUMBLE

Post by Acid.OMG »

Lets be honest, we all have our unsettled disputes. Drama is one of the lifelines of our community. Now is your chance to put an end to any past rival.

Introducing UT's newest inter-community tournament

Image

How to join?
Just reply to this post
Each person will be given a random entry number using http://www.random.org/lists/
The list will be generated 30 minutes prior to the tournament

When does it take place?
February, 7th, 2014 @ 8pm EST

How it works:
Last Man Standing | Normal weapons | Deck16
Each player is required to be in Teamspeak.. (TS Server depends on who is willing to host)
The players who draw numbers 1 & 2 will start and every 60 seconds the next entry will join.
Each player will be given 8 lives, once all 8 lives are gone that player will be eliminated and moved to spec

***I am thinking of playing a 10 second intro song for each person that enters.
So when you reply please provide a youtube link to your theme song just in case.

Feel free to team up or form alliances, but in the end its every man for themselves as there is only 1 winner.

The winner will receive a free Luma Tank donated by 40.

I think you watching too much WWE :P ... I like the idea!
If the server in East Coast, will be NewNet in the server for Europe players?
I want to join but I don't really understand what do here (http://www.random.org/lists/)
Anyway I think would be good, custom skins for every player who want to join ... Will be more colorful the game
About the music, I will take a look for it in the next week
So... +1!

This years tournament will be hosted on Abby's Playground Server. At the moment LMS has not been added to the mapvote yet but you can go test your ip. It is hosted in Dallas, TX

Still open for a Teamspeak host for the tournament

EDIT-------

UPDATE

Due to spectator restrictions. This is now limited to 15 players only. the 16th will be in spec to stream

I also need a volunteer with a good connection to stream the event to twitch.tv

Well mainly to add to the suspense enviroment. But also because I will be introducing the next competitor every minute and most likely playing a short theme intro for that player which wouldn't work without an audience.

If you are familiar with the Royal Rumble you will know what I mean by suspense. I am going to shuffle the players using the randomizer and privately tell each player their number. so nobody will know who is coming in next

I am also working on some suprise entrances of people who havent played in a while... If interested pm me

Cool, I'll see how long I can deal with watching Deck16
1-on-1 I can cope with, as it is not so spammy.

I meant to post before the event with some suggestions for visuals.
If you want to entice new players, then make it look more shiny.

Hi-Res textures on a modern renderer.

Wormbos Enhanced UT, or Xpickups.

NW3 Ultra Gore SSE

Xanth Realism

Use a selection of modern, well animated custom bots (or even guest stars from other games ;) )

It won't make gameplay any different, but it will look like a modern game.

I find the capture in Open Broadcaster is very dark, so I have it boost the gamma to 1.35.
I am using the D3D9 renderer, so you may find it different with OpenGL or D3D10.

The person who streamed normally does quakelive and minecraft. they only played ut99 a few times because of me and my friends. We kind of grabbed them last minute as the server admin/streamer didn't show due to an emergancy

Appreciate the tips though. Maybe next time "soon" we can get some of the non-rocketx players of the ut99.org community to join in. I was a bit disappointed in the participation outside of the =(V)= clan. We only had 2 people, including myself that were not in Vulpine clan
