Unreal+UT server IpDrv modification

Post by Dr.Flay »

:!: . . . . BREAKING NEWS !!!

The one and only legend that is .:..: (Dots) has come up trumps yet again :highfive:
Now Unreal and UT players can join forces (and quit with the bitching), and kick some monster-ass.

This is aimed at those of you who run CoOp MonterHunt type servers.
Loathsome are you listening ? You are gonna love this, but you do have to host in U227i so no UT only mutators (unless they can be mapped I guess).

Run like a mad-man now and give it a try.

I'm liking this, I've always wondered about client cross-compatibility between engines.

Soooo ...Do I understand this right... You join with your UT install on an Unreal server and you can play against monsters together with other Unreal player? And how do I choose a unreal skin? ...Or is this irrelevant and you play with your UT Skin?

Yup.
Compromises will have to be made, but we should be able to play maps that avoid using engine specific extras.
Using the converted Botpack for Unreal users, may even mean we could use a wider range of maps.
We could do with the UPak conversion being finished too.

billybill wrote:This is good news for co-op. That is a good site too. My last co-op server was a disaster :( Firstly nobody wanted to play the campaign, and then once they did there were flaws like when the first gun runs out of ammo it changed weapon even though the gun would recharge. It left the only option installing unlimited ammo or all weapon type mods and not sticking to the way it was meant to be. Finding weapons and ammo and as most monster hunt maps are made too! Hopefully I can find a way to fix all this next time but it really was not a fun experience because of this

Seems a bit more testing and successful playing has been happening, so I thought I'd point out that Dots has a test server he uses.

A little more info has been posted for those intending to run their own test server.
