HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
Hello everyone.
I'm very fond of this game and I was curious if my new chinese tablet PC could run it. If it could I would have one more PC to make LANs with friends.
It's a chuwi hi10 plus with a intel X5 chipset. Plenty of power to run UT99.
The game runs fine and at normal speed with the default directx (which was unexpected).
There is only one heartbreaking problem. My character is always looking down!
A normal mouse is connected to the tablet and the controls are set up correctly. No smoothing, direct input is on and I removed all keys related to look on the keyboard config.
I can rotate the camera with the mouse but always stuck looking down, no way to look up.
I suspected that the touch screen was causing this and I disabled it in device manager ==> nope
I hope someone here have the solution to my problem.

Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
Tablets has also a tilt sensor for some games ...maybe check this as well.
Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
Thanks but even with accelerometer disabled in device manager I still end up looking at my feet as soon as I move the mouse.
More help please. I found out that if I invert mouse I get to see the ceiling instead...
I tried with another mouse and it's the same.
I put false in UseDirectDraw and reduced my mouse sensitibility ==> now I can look up and left/right correctly BUT the down sensitibility is like 999 TIMES MORE
When I move my mouse 1mm down I almost instantly look half a screen down. That's like if sensibility on this axis was multiplied by 10 or 100 compared to other directions.

Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
This already had happened with me, and it was because I had a gamepad connected to it (although in my case it wasn't a tablet or anything like that, it was just a normal laptop).
So something in your system is probably triggering the look from a "joystick", whichever this means in the tablet itself (like the accelerometer or something else there), so I would suggest for you to open your User.ini file in System, and look for the "Joy..." entries.
There are 2 in particular which may be causing that, which look like something like this:
therefore, your problem might be fixed if you just set them to empty values, like this:

Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
someone already suggested that in pm.
all the lines with joy are =nothing
it was one of the first things I tried
the only progress I have seen is when I put false in front of usedirectdraw
I could look up left and right normally it's just when I look down that I go way too fast down.
I don't know if it's due to the mouse bug or if it's what is causing the bug BUT I installed Fraps and I see a massive stutter each time my mouse goes crazy.
Now that I disabled everything related to joystick or that could interfere I can move around but every 3 or 4 seconds my view is teleported instantly up/down/left/right completely random. Sometimes I do a 180° instantly or look at my feet.
Tried with OpenGL and DX10 it's the same with fps locked or unlocked it's the same too. In open GL the tablet can pull 120+ FPS so it's not a power problem.
CPU is at 45% use. Always a massive stutter and view teleport every few seconds.
I'm about to give up...

Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
Well, there are still a couple of things you can try:
1 - You can try to set the game executable (UnrealTournament.exe) compatibility mode to Windows 7, Windows XP or so.
2 - If that doesn't work, you can try to follow this guide: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=373

Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
Do you have Razer synapse? If so Quit out of it before launching the game.
I had this problem on another game due to that software.

"Woah what?! I wish I was recording that...."
Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
Nope, no razer synapse.
I'd like to add that when I'm NOT using directinput I have massive stuttering but can kinda look around. I don't know if it can be called stuttering at this point or freeze.
But when I'm using direct input I don't have any micro freeze or stuttering BUT i'm stuck watching my feet.
Would a video of my problem help?
I'm stubborn so don't expect me to give up easily

Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
Could this be another DEP problem?
So long, and thanks for all the fish
Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
I tried with multiple brands. A logitech shitty mouse a mini mouse from TnB and another mouse from MAXXTER
==> same results
What do you mean by DEP?

Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
Search Unreal Tournament and DEP, you'll see a bunch of issues if it's enabled.

Re: HELP windows10 tablet PC looking down problem
OMG I disabled permanently DEP and I don't know if it's because of this but I tried to switch to full screen while in game. The game didn't want to start directly in full screen so I did all my tries in windowed.
When I switch to full screen while already in game there is no crash and BOOOOOOOOOM no more mouse problem or stuttering/freeze
