-It happens on a select few map skyboxes (I think it also happened on CTF-FNB-SpaceJunk)
-Not sure about the graphic card settings (and I'm not at home atm)
-In OpenGL the game freaks out like crazy (almost everything is grey)

I'll probably send the settings this weekend.

I specially downloaded CTF-FNB-SpaceJunk to test it out and mine looks just fine.

So it could be either your renderer settings or because of unmasked textures (or combination of both).
Your Direct3D9 settings may give some clue what's wrong.

Ye in that map, The SkyBox was looking very much Terrible. I also read its ReadMe File of that map. It says that it requires High End Machines for that map. I think that map was made my FragnBrag.

I have found that sometime the windows driver settings are to blame for odd graphical behaviour in UT.
Both nVidia and ATI use a similar quality slider, so I will use that for reference.
Using settings below "Balanced" like "Performance" can have adverse effects.
If you need the speed, keep it on balanced and disable anti-aliasing.

The ENB mod exaggerates stuff including imperfections, and you can easily see the difference when you change the actual driver settings.

It is quick and easy to see if your drivers are the issue, by running the problem map twice, and trying the "performance" and "quality" settings.

I remember you need retail this like a resolution or 16/9 ...16/10.
You don't have a 4/3 ?

If you have not a 4/3 this help you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_resolutions

GEx,

Just an observation - Your video card description in [D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice] reads "NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 (Microsoft Corporation)" which is by todays standards very old GPU and does not support more than Direct3D8 level of features. Also the text "Microsoft Corporation" in driver usually indicates that you're using stock Windows drivers for that card and you should update to latest available one, because they can improve your performance and fix various issues.

Your problems may be caused because latest OpenGL and Direct3D9 renderers utilize various features not fully supported by your card or graphics drivers.

I suggest you to download most recent Direct3D8 renderer and try with following config.

Thanks for everything! Yeah, I have a very poopy pc  got it about 7 years ago. Ok, I turned d3d8 on and tweaked it like you posted, the set up seems to work great at the moment.

EDIT: Damn it, Jailbreak's execusions are still acting up (not as bad as in d3d9 where it even froze the pc!). In that camera view it starts flickering. D'oh! :x

GEx,

Did you update your graphics drivers?

DirectX libraries are already included with all the modern versions of Windows, but nevertheless you should update to latest DirectX 9.0c ones if you haven't done it so.

You could also test this OpenGL configuration (with OpenGL 3.7 renderer: http://www.ut99.org/download/file.php?id=2637) and see if it pefrorms any any different from Direct3D8.

Code: Select all

Tried it, didn't work (I even tried the SDK and EXU versions of openGL), it still gives me black and white trianglish view with horrible slowdown. And yes I have direct9.0c.
Guess I'll have to stay with the regular d3d :(
