is there any way to change the speed on a map that will over write the server default speed settings

I am not sure, but I think that the only way is scripting an object that forces a certain game speed and place it in the map. (for example, UMS as some kind of code to force that, as the Matrix moves mutator)

I could script such object, I guess (not sure if I can, I have to look at a certain script first).

maybe the ingame settings need to be changed

Wait for Revelation's AS-FoT-Chronoshift! I can't say more, cause of secrecy, but it may help you. When you play it, you will see what i mean. It's definitely possible to change gamespeed, even IN a match :wink:
