Bot offense

There is nothing worse then a game full of bots, especially the stock dumb bright colored skin ones.
The game ends ups being...who can kill the most bots win.
No thank you.
If we're going to have them in game we need to put these lifeless targets on the offensive.
Has anyone ever thought about "camouflaging" bots?
Have them blend in to their surroundings..."standing near a brown wall/bot will also be brown".
Running across a orange floor/look closely and you might see an orange bot.
Again, bots are way to easy to kill.
Also how about a mod that allows them to kill you in one shot?
You fire upon a bot and don't kill it...not need running because you are going to die.
And it shouldn't matter how far away you are. You scope a bot 500 yards away and miss...the bot should
be able to return fire and not miss.
Now we're talking "Godlike".

Bots are mostly really easy to kill because nobody bothers to setup their bots. They leave the default settings and just let whatever skill level the game is set at determine how tough the bots are.

I take the time to customize all of my bots. Some I make easy, some I give no skills at all (couldn't hit you with the mini·gun if they were right in front of you) and some I make all sorts of badass.

More often than not, in most games regardless of skill level, the Abyss kills you without you having a clue where she was.

To be fair though, as I know you're a redeemer junkie, bots do not do very well with nukes. I'm talking more standard weapons, like the UT-defaults.

Hey Evilgrins, yes, you are correct, except for the nobody sets up their bots part. LOL
SOME of us do set up their bots as realistic as they can get.
On our CMM server, we not only set up the bots in the fashion like you do, but we set them up to be Optimum for Redeemer Arena!

I did exhaustive trials and R&D with the bots on our servers.
I wrote down many results of the settings and came up with the best settings for bots, specifically playing Redeemer.
It took many, many hours (and days), over a period of several weeks of trials, trying different combos of settings also.
We could even go with further studies, but I was pretty satisfied with the results as far as I got. :tu:
I didn't use the optimum settings on ALL of the bots, just to give them variety, but several of them sprinkled in give a pretty realistic game-play from the bot pool. :D
Some of the bots do very well, with Nukes, and often win matches over even many real players. :P (even with a LOW Skill setting)
Most of our bots are set Skill level 0, and no higher than 2 or 3. :wink:
Oh, and yes, most of them have Your custom skins that blend in with most darker maps.

Ok maybe I get something wrong with my bots but isn't Skill level 0 weaker? ...It can be that, I did it wrong all the times. :noidea

I've done way to much research on this topic.
...Skill set
...Accuracy
...Alertness
...Combat Style
...Jumpy behavior
...Skin
It's all good for the basic "entry level" redeemer server like rookie/hooky runs...but for those
of us running and playing superior redeemer server...we need more if bots are involved.

I normally setup my bots as well.. using jafo's bot editor. is pretty good.
and adjust all of the bits n peaces.

alternatively you could give em all logues abilities and SuperShockRifles.. you wont be disapointed

just a small note here.. perhaps bot hunting is what attracts players to your server?.. idk.. bitplayers are easy to scareoff ime (in my experience)

I did this also on one of my bots for offline game ...but somehow is he not that bad-ass like Loque normally is. Did I miss somewhere a setting in the user.ini ??

Personally I could care less about bots.
I even limit the amount of bots I use...depending on the size of the map.
Some of the smaller maps have one bot until a real person joins and some of the lager maps have four to eight bots.
And the average player wants bots...that easy kill...that exhilaration of killing something and scoring .
I just want it to be tougher, more of a challenge for some.

Why not setup a mod that doesn't give frags for killing the bots if 2 or more clients are connected to the server.
