That was also the case in one of the Laptops I had on my work bench: "My windows crashes suddenly again and again". The fan grate was full of dust and hairs... After cleaning that Laptop's Windows runs continuously without crashing again.

Soooo the HDD works fine but the laptop just won't boot anymore from it and the CD is only randomly detected. :|

Look for some refurbisch stuff its sheap and you get a windows version also with the package.
somwhere between 100 or 150 euro you have a core duo or a athlon x2.

Thanks to certain Barbie ...I don't want to say who... I am now a proud possessor of a 5 year old running machine.
You are my Hero. :mrgreen:

Only thing left as a little problem:
UT is running wobbly ...I mean the mouse has a lag. When I move it the picture moves milliseconds behind.
Mouse acceleration is off.
The DPI of the mouse are set to the lowest.
And still the mouse lag.

The UT is copied from the old install and I used the registry fix. The original installation was on a single core machine (long ago before the laptop) to prevent the multi-core bug.

i,m also busy with a new system for the second hands market.
Ill having a old motherboard dvd drive and harddisk ill have already but i must seek at the end of this month for a case.
what i have like i said was a motherboard hd and dvd drive just 1 case i need so i can built the computer.
Its a celeron processor 533 mhz frontside bus and a agp graphical unit (but still have the onboard gp unit wich is good also).
But not for playing games.
I will take some pictures from the system in test phase, and also when i put the system together.
Ill keep you you up to date from that build.

Good to hear your are computed again paper and kudos to Barbie. Dunno what he/she did, but I suspect it was good! :)
