I went from win 2000 pro, to win7 pro, never used XP or vista. I had to buy vista biz (pro) $175.00 but got the coupon for win7 pro free. and will not use the glorified big box cell phone OS called win10.
All win 10 is, is so they could say "app"
Should I upgrade to 10??

MS has been tracking you since VIsta, 7, etc nothing new.

Yeah, that is a thing.
As for the spying, Yes, vista and 7 did send telemetry to m$ and they did add updates to spy more but atleast in win7 and 8 those can be blocked but with windows 10 they send EVERYTHING by default and you CAN'T kill it.

Games and some programs are the only reason still use windows 7 because quite frankly windows is dead and it has been replaced by trojan.windows.win32

All you have to do is tape an antenna on your tower home system, and glue a picture of a cell phone screen on the front of your system, BINGO windows 10

For some reason, I was really expecting someone to say, "No, use Linux, here are some links etc."

I think this died out about 5 years ago when every single person on the Internet had heard this at least once and the entire world was collectively tired of hearing this answer to a question nobody had asked.LannFyre wrote:For some reason, I was really expecting someone to say, "No, use Linux, here are some links etc."
You must construct additional pylons.

And because nobody has posted a link to an almighty server having 2000 Win apps converted to Linux and some of those aliases which exist are stupid craps (some p2p app by example which I found in the past), to not forget mentioning that you have to be some advanced user/coder for Linux deals, that's why...
The rest of amnesia about Lubuntu starting faster than Windows posted somewhere by a dude is a myth. By removing all useless content from Windows you will be surprised how well and fast starts a Windows session to not mention the option for delaying some "tray" activity in purpose to gain resources for the most needed/used applications. We have currently a lot of tools optimizing and tweaking Windows way easy than writing a book at "Terminal".
To sumarize company where I'm working uses different apps for programing all sort of devices - all of them are in Windows, no wories some domains requiring programing stuff is costing a lot of money even if is coded under Linux - it's about intelectual property rules.
For the servers hosting things Linux might be a solution but not for common users.
