Nobody should be persuading you to use Edge, they should be persuading you upgrade to a more secure browser.
MS browsers should only be used for getting something safer.

BTW. Some other recent changes

Anything free means you're potentially the product. If one doesn't know this by now then one deserves the gifts that come from ignorance or laziness. The creator's update is no worse than W10 ever was, but MS has made the list of everything public, that's all and that's good; it all can be easily turned off with a safe, simple and free program, if one desires (OOSU10).

Flay, the UK is a total surveillance state and yet we are talking about Win 10? Talk about closing the barn door after the horse has long, long gone. In 2016 the UK passed laws that are way past Orwellian so you have much bigger fish to fry.

Actually there are 2 lists in the article.
One is referring to how it was, and one referring to the new changes, eg. that the new Basic mode collects almost as much as the old Full mode.

There are tools and guides available for making Windows less chatty.

Indeed the NSA have a very close relationship with GCHQ, and on the last show talked about using a map to show where the data is going into their routing.

I have been warning people that big UK ISPs are under instruction to gather info for the Gov. and over the next 2 years it will be implemented fully legally.

However invasive they may already be, allowing your OS to leak even more personal data than needed is just giving all interested parties even more useful info to track and hack you.
Criminals are criminals even when they work for a Government.
Just because they can do what they like, does not mean you should willingly pull down your trousers and bend over, unless you are shouting "Kiss my arse !"
