I currently have a GTX 1080 waiting for me to buy the rest of the Desktop parts, still need to spend +1k€
Spoiler
I wanna make a good investment that will pay off through out the years in upgrading, i wanna have a good Computer with good design specs for either videogame level design or architecture
concepts in UE4 , even architecture programs since i started a course in Landscape Architecture
Meanwhile i got a new laptop with a 1060M (mobile version) witch is more than good enough for now

Well the worst thing is what you can do is beying a very expendive videocard.
Next year they come with a new faster one.
I,m still running ut99 on a nvidia gt630 with 4 gb of older ram.
It still runs all good no need to upgrade mine videocard.
Over a few year i,m planning a new computer, and i must see then wich videocard i,m going to use on mine new computer.
The worst investment is buying a new computer or videocard sadly.

If you sell them before they loose all value you just end up spending 300€ or so if you sell your old one, even if u spend 500€ every 3 years that is still way less than a whole new computer thats like 166€ "per year" to keep a computer updated :noidea

I bought the 2080 RTX, just because my monitor has g-sync by nvidia so i'm forced to use their cards. Otherwise i was always a big fan of AMDs hardware.

Using a 1660 TI. Decent card and it's not super expensive. Still good on modern games unless you want to run on resolutions > 1980*1280. Have been using a GTX970 for around five years before. Unfortunatly, I had to purchase since my old card had a meltdown earlier this year. First thought of repurchasing the 970, but the 1660 is a decent upgrade and isn't much more expensive, so it's a good upgrade I think.

gtx970 :tu: same card here  maybe i'll go 1660 next as well - price is right?

The only 970 issue i've had lately was Bioshock 2 crash-outs on high dx10 surface details...
had to knock this back to dx9, oh well. Not sure that is a card problem tho... i think it was the game...

Might be. The 1660 TI cost me 60 bucks more than the 970 would have when I had to buy - 250€ to 309€. 60 bucks well invested if you ask me. Using the old Tomb Raider benchmarks my FPS went from 45 -> 59.5 on average so it's a decent increase, and the card should set you up for the next few years.
