Which is a moot point, this virus doesn't care what political party anyone is.

Goddammit, would we still be talking about politics once everyone is a fucking zombie?? Or once everyone else has become a werewolf and too many of them want your throat and not your, uhhh, non-vital parts...?

Traditionally, zombies are not chatty.

Our streets are pretty bare, and we have, supposedly 18 in our county.

I just wash things, spray the inside of the car with some heavy duty stuff disinfectant that DOES kill viruses not just alcohol. The other side of the state ,Detroit, is like 1,400

And there still is news hype, and most of our news people, they live in New York.
I dunno just keep clean, I don't have the problem of going out to places and our houses are spread out unlike big cities.

I really don't want to go into a large store, al those people walking around.

Most of the large stores around my neck of the woods are instituting limitations on how many people can be in their stores at any given time, so maybe there's a similar situation in your location.

It appears that COVID-19 is significantly more dangerous than seasonal flu given the difference in the death rates (and in the numbers that require hospitalisation).

But I still can't see what overall point you are making - why compare the two? What's the purpose? What conclusions do we draw (after all, the only reason to compare two 'things' is to draw conclusions)? What are the practical outcomes from that comparison?

At the end of the day, the comparison is meaningless - there is a global COVID-19 pandemic that needs to be addressed - that's the important thing surely, not a argument over whether one disease is more dangerous than another!

The danger in the comparison is to downplay the need to take the necessary precautions to reduce the spread (and speed of spread) of COVID-19 - "Seasonal flu could be considered much worse than COVID-19" "Oh well, that's good, we don't need to worry about social distancing, staying at home, not coughing in people's faces, etc, etc"
COVID-19 appears more dangerous than the flu, but look at the factors that play into that.

1. The seasonal flu typically has a vaccine that is between 40-60% effective in complete immunity or lessening the symptoms dramatically.
2. The seasonal flu has several options for treatment, the H5N7 Swine Flu could have killed a lot more people w/o TamiFlu.
3. There is much more understanding about the seasonal flu than COVID-19, which is relatively new.
4. There are several databases that have very large records and a voluminous amount samples of the seasonal flu from the past.

TLDR: Treatment, Records, & Prevention

Most of the things that I've heard the US is publishing is literally just common f**king sense. Cover your mouth, no s**t Sherlock. WASH YOUR HANDS, kinda self explanatory. Disinfect surfaces, Lysol and Clorox have been advertising this for YEARS. Now there is just extra stress upon them because of a new disease. That brings us to a question, "Wasn't every disease new and scary at some point?" The obvious answer is yes, but as time has progressed we (as the human species) have learned about them. And for most of us, the dangers of them and why we should combat them.

Yes, there are a few new recommended precautions like stay 2m apart and don't touch your face. However those aren't (by themselves) terribly effective. It is the combination of sanitation habits that can prevent the spread and what heavily contributes to lifespan.

Take a look at TB for example, it's mortality rate in the 1800-1900s was extremely high. However, thanks to research, prevention methods, and treatment, it's mortality rate has fallen 42% from 2000-2017 according to the WHO. COVID-19 isn't predominantly killing people under 65, like the H1N1 of 1918. It's victims are usually young children or those over 65, who are at the highest risk for these types (Upper Respiratory Infection or URI) of diseases.

That being said, yes I do understand that it can be especially dangerous for those susceptible age groups. However, when a treatment is developed and hopefully a vaccine (sure as hell not by Easter) the overall mortality rate will decline.

I had a perfect plan, the stuff I spay is not meant for the skin.

So I sprayed a cloth grocery bag and let it dry to put my stuff in.

I walk into, a small (almost expired food type of store), and they told me they don't allow cloth bags, LoL (understandably) so I ended up getting more germs than I wanted.

When I got to the car I transferred the stuff to MY bag, that was 1000% more sanitary than that plastic bag BS.

I also wiped each item after it sat in the trunk for a good while in that bag. Sort of like a video game KILL THE VIRUS !!! :mad2:

and live !!!

Yes, we know - a lot of people on here will be living in areas with lockdowns of varying severity (no leaving the home basically except to buy food) and high mortality.

What! You can't use a cloth bag? Why's that?

One funny conspiracy theory I've seen about Covid19, is that it's not real and it's 5G that's killing people lol.

If I had to guess its because the cloth is a good carrier for the virus. It can latch on easily.

One of the toilet paper complaints was that Covid-19 could easily infiltrate the cardboard of the roll its wrapped around.

Not sure how a plastic bag is much safer. Harder to get a grip on?

I thought the virus lasts much longer on hard surfaces (like plastic) than it does on soft surfaces (like fabric)?

The bag I had was disinfected far more than anything in that store, my perfect plan foiled.

The store I visit says you can take your own bag, but they won't bag it for you. Not sure if that was what they meant. However, they might insist anyway because cloth bags are brought from home and may be a vector for the virus.

I think China is gonna get a backlash that will slap them back 500 years. Imagine all the individuals deaths of relatives anger AND ALL the countries economies, governments will also be angry. They won't call China for parts anymore, they will call other countries first.

Then I see videos now of angry people inside China taking a huge risk of speaking out, their family dies and they are not allowed to publicaly talk about it.

Even if it takes 2 weeks for symptoms, every damn country got infected, so they sat on their ass while spreading this to the whole world, there is no excuse.
